Thumbs up Charger & PSU calculator: What charger/PSU do I need?

Hey guys,

I came up with this Charger and PSU calculator:
It calculates general values for your charger and PSU for a given charging setup (battery-type, how many in parallel, charging rate).
In addition it gives you detailed values for specific chargers, like the iCharger, and a suiting PSU for it.

A related calculator called the Lipo battery calculator helps by determining the real-life C rate of your LiPos - in contrast to the values the manufacturer are claiming.

Hope they will help you!

I applaud the work. It could be a little less iCharger centric, but other than that, nice. Sadly, however, history has shown the users that need this information rarely use it. Such a powerful tool gets lost in the endless barrage of "HELP! I need a charger" threads. For example did you know that two such calculators have existed for several years now. Their feature set is different than Sokos and its nice to see a fresh spin. But nonetheless, these resources are severely underutilized.

@toonttm: Thanks man! As Slyster said, this is the charger forum. But feel free to mention it in the main forum as well

@Slyster: Who is the guy that can make it as a sticky?

@Greg: I knew the progressiveRC one. But I didn't like it as you can't compare directly the different chargers.
As I'm using iChargers since day one in the hobby and I'm more than happy with them - thats what I've started with. I'm more happy to add any other chargers on demand! Frankly I don't know any other (good) chargers so I'm depending on input here

Anyway... Thx a lot for your word guys - it was quite a chunk of work

Default updated Charger & PSU calculator

Hey guys,

I updated the charger and PSU calculator with data of the chargers from FMA and Hyperion.

So at the moment you can calculate for all iChargers, FMAs and Hyperions.

I will add more chargers and brands in future...

The site is still live, but it looks like the PSU calculator page is the only thing now missing? The other calculators are still there
https://www.soko-heli-tools.com/calculators

This site here is great for those that need to better understand the two main factors of a charger setup, max watts and max amps and how they go hand in hand as the charger essentially hits its limits if either one maxes out first. In our case its typically the wattage that taps out first no matter the amp rating unless you are flying really small voltage packs

It can help to determine what will be required depending on your specific packs capacity and voltage and at how many C you want to charge them.

Hey guys,

Yeah, we dumped the PSU calculator with the new website as all the calculators in there are discontinued models anyway.

If there is really a need for it I could look up our source code for the old website and get it up and running again somewhere...
Or even share the source code here so you can run it yourself.
