Default GPS test flights yet?

I know it is early, but surely someone had to receive and can't wait to test...

Post a video of it in action. I ordered mine from HD, can't wait for it to ship on Friday

The GPS enabled software has not been uploaded yet to the skookum website. So no flying yet.

Actually, I got an email a couple of hours ago, with a link to download the new update. However, they asked for the link not to be published, until they do it first.

I've been flying it since November.

There is a video of hands-off hovering on the Skookum web site.

Still waiting for my local distributor to let me know when it arrives, I know we are a long way from Canada but so is Europe.

Had everything in place and mounted nicely...

SK-720, GPS, even the EX-LED2 - one connector of which I had to sand down to fit into the recommended SW-A port. It is really nice and bright.

Then during the initial updating of SK setup software, SK-720 firmware, LCD firmware, and GPS firmware, the GPS became a brick.

Just like that, it stopped being recognised by the SK-720, and stopped its slow gentle blink.

So I'm sitting here looking at a pretty blue-glowing brick...

I'll tell you - I'm not happy about this at all. I'm in fact very, very disappointed.

Waiting for someone at Skookum to answer my emails. Or my phone calls...

Good luck to the rest of you when doing the updates.

Mine are due to arrive today, I guess I'll make certain to update the SK-720's and LCD terminal first before connecting the SK-GPS at all.

Thanks for the heads up though, sorry for your troubles, I know that must suck!

Well, in my case, the SK-720 and the SK-LCD were updated successfully.

It was only during the GPS update that I got an 'updating LCD failed' error message. And yes, it did say LCD instead of GPS, the same as it says 'update LCD' when hovering over the 'update GPS button'

If I had another unit, I wouldn't even take it out of its box until Skookum patch whatever needs to be patched.

Does the SK-GPS have a micro SD card like the SK-720 that can be removed and set to a good state for a firmware update?

No. It's a sealed unit. Nothing accessible from the outside...

This I'm sure was a tough decision for the Skookum people and they are under a lot of pressure.

They could have flashed the units and shipped them ready to run, but they decided to ship the units while they finish their multi-hundred point regression testing to get them in our hands so we could try them out as soon as they were ready.

I've had an update brick one of my 3 SK-720's over about 7 total updates that I've done. So this is an issue that probably won't happen for the last time. I'm hoping that your issue is an isolated incident. I think I had a similar issue happen to me with an error telling me something about the LCD so I aborted the update an viola' bricked.

I know that we are all wound up on anticipation after a long wait, and it is easy to get totally wrecked when there is a hiccup.

Just remember we are getting the 1.0.0.0 release of a product. We signed up to be the first in line for this when we pre-ordered our units. We in fact paid for the honor of getting ours first before a bunch of other people put it through its paces, and without any real knowledge of how well it will work.

I normally never sign up for this honor, but I'm walking into this eyes wide open.

Okay, both of my SK-720's failed to update, but heres the kicker, you will have a blinking green light like normal when plugged into USB...

I replugged the USB cable after getting the failure to update message, and immediately the SK-720 went into programming mode and came out with 3.30. Success, but not as intended.

Both of my units did this. The SK-LCD updated fine however. My SK-GPS's are still due to arrive.

I would hold off touching the GPS's until Skookum releases an announcement regarding firmware flashing.

I updated my GPS firmware last night on line.

Did you?
Was it successful?

Without a successful compass swing, it is, in tact, a brick.
