Any truth to the rumor that Align is ditching its DFC and going back to the traditional FBL head for its next gen helis?

I doubt they will ever ditch DFC altogether since that's been their marketing schtick for a while now, but they have already released a new fbl head called the "fl."

It's basically just your typical swash driver head, but shortened onto a dfc main shaft. Check out the 700 electric forum, there's some pics.

Thanks...indeed one of the nice things about Facebook. Too bad I'm a Luddite. I do like the Outrage style swash with turned balls for the pitch links. Following the Compass 7HV with a retrofit kit...nice. I built my own for the 550, but I guess more head sizes to follow....or KDE SXTS.

Now that we have better images of the new 550L I'm really excited! it's 10cm shorter than the pro550 DFC which indicates to me they have made a new boom and not just use the 600 boom + the canopy is a little shorter.

the kit come to me replicates a little 700!! which is awesome! i'm soooooooo tempted to get myself this heli when its release as it comes with super nice servos and other components.

1 year ago I sold my 550 v2 to get a Goblin 500 I think now I might sell my Goblin 500 to get this new 550L

Nice looking heli!

I used to fly a lot of Aligns and this is the first one that's caught my eye in a while.

Reason I stopped flying them is there are just too many frame bolts Seems ridiculous but the only heli's I like wrenching on these days are Goblins...

That being said I still might be tempted if the price is right!

I wonder if the tail hold will be better on this machine. I couldn't get the tail to hold on the 550 DFC I had due to the 3.85:1 tail ratio.....unless I ran 2400+ rpm.
