Default Servo summary

There is a great thread about pilot experiences with alternative servos

Since it sometimes is hard to get an overview when reading a thread I made a table with the stats (in case I want a metal gear upgrade after crashing/stripping the stock ones). Figured it would be useful for my fellow helifreaks as well.

Anything I missed? Please comment it you have experience with a particular servo and the ar7200bx (working great / not working) or know the beastx setting / frequency.

Disclaimer:
Stats don't give the full story. Sometimes servos have other issues (inaccuracy, flakyness) so just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it will fly well / reliably. I'm sure there are some typos in there as well, let me know and I will try to correct it. The price column is a rough estimate (for some servos a € ↦ $ conversion was needed).

Double check your servo frequency before installing!!!

Thanks for that... should prove useful for those considering replacement.

Why is there a "¶" after the Solar D654? Thanks for the comprehensive list!

Sticky this, please!

Thanks!

PS: Stock tail servo is good for 4.8v - 5.0v range. MKS DS95 for cyclic should be added, too

+1 on the sticky request. This is great information. We really don't have that many stickies up for the 300X and this is a common repair/mod item.

Couldn't really see this myself due to not being able to scroll down in the window. Copy-pasted it here to see what it said.

Thanks for compiling this list!

I have the Solar's and they work GREAT (running them with the YEP45a esc at 5.5v they work even better). Had many crashes, no problems.

There are 2 things you need to know abut these however. The motors can 'slip', so before installing, take the back off (or slide out) and put a tiny piece of foam under the motor. This will insure no slippage. This takes about 2mins a servo.

Also, These are a little tight in the front elevator slot. you have to cut out little bit of the frame to give room for the servo horn to move. It only takes a couple mins and doesn't affect the frame strength when using the Astroid braces!

Should add the Turnigy TNG306-G for the tail, MKS95 clone/OEM for $22, and the Hitec 65HB/MG for collective.

Pete do you have a link for this Turnigy TNG306-G servo. Google gets me nothing except a few posts here.

Default Updated with BeastX settings

I added a column for BeastX frequency settings and some more servos.

There are some servos in there I couldn't find the frequency for, if you are running those successfully let me know the settings and I'll update the post again.

Same settings as the HV version, I think I gave the wrong number but this is the one, running nicely on my tail.

Mixfisto, what frequency etc you running them at???? i see the list didnt mention it, may be it could be added?

I think this thread is a perfect candidate for sticky as long as the list gets updated

Default Use for bot T and C?

You list the 306G as Cyclic but see people using them for the Tail.

Can't these and others be used for both cyclic and tail? TGY-306G-HV

And is the high voltage necessary for either T or C. I would like to use TGY's all the way around if that is possible.

Thanks for the effort

Im running futaba s3156's on cyclic and an align ds520 on the tail

The futabas are incredible servos. They literally have NO slop and the servo body is very rigid structurally. ..an important trait cyclics should possess on the 300x. Run them at 200hz at 6v with a cc10 bec.

Im running the ds520 because im using an align trex 450 pro v2. Non boom mount its mounted on the rear of the frame. The 450mx motor I run offsets any of the weight. Anyways, at 1520us and 333hz it runs very well.

But I dont think ill ever run anything but s3156's on 450 and smaller helis again, they are incredible.

I was looking at the specs for Spektrum servos and the H3020 is giving up a lot of torque 34% less verses the stock servo but is 22% faster. Has anyone looked at the A3040 it has 5% less torque and is 9% slower which seems to be a lot closer to the stock servo at least on paper. Both servos are 63% heavier than the stock.

I was thinking of giving one a try but wanted to get an opinion of speed versus torque. I was always told when in doubt go with torque.

This should be a sticky.

Could do with including some Hyperions in the cyclic servo list such as:

Hyperion DS11-AMB - 10.5g, 2.5Kg/cm, 0.15 speed
Hyperion DS11-SCB - 10g, 2Kg/cm, 0.13 speed

Can you also amend the Savox 0262 frequency this should be between 200 - 300 Hz not 333Hz.
This was confirmed by Savox USA after I tried the 262 at 333Hz during setup and it started to run warm. I run mine at 270Hz.
Thanks

It seems like I'm unable to edit the post anymore Does anyone know if you need special forum powers to edit posts after a bit of time has passed? It would be great to be able to keep the first post in this thread up to date.
