I can't find a 16t pinion for sale
I know this topic has already come up but I am having a really hard time finding one. I have been searching on the internet and called all the local hobby shops. Dose anyone know where I can find a 6mm16 tooth pinion gear with a 0.8mod?!?!?! I have been looking for over a week and every vendor that I find says they are out of stock.

Is this it?
http://www.amain.com/rc-helicopters/...lh5568/p254478 As usual, Blade parts are short on specifications. Knowing whether you are looking for a Blade part or not would help. |

I was hoping to find a hardened steal pinion. I've heard that the brass pinions wear quickly.

Also....Has anybody had luck with the Lynx 133t main and 13t pinion with the stock motor. I was looking into that but was worried that the ratio (133t and 13t =10.23 vs 169t and 16t = 10.56) was not a good match for the stock motor.

I tried that setup and it was a no-go for me in hot summer weather. I almost overtemped and shut down my Castle Phoenix Edge 120HV when I viewed the data logs. I had peak temps right at 200 degrees and I think the overtemp cutout is around 210-220 degrees. When that started happening, I got a solid red warning line on the log graph since I broke 190 degrees. I'd never seen that before and I considered it unsafe, so I went back to the stock main gear with a 15T pinion. Highest peak I've ever seen after going back to a semi-stock setup is right at 180 degrees. Average temps across an entire flight in hot weather are now around 150-160 degrees, which I consider to be fine and so does Castle since they recommend keeping average flight temps between 140 and 160 degrees.

This machine doesn't need such outrageous head speed! After much experimenting 2350-ish rpm is such a nice balance between performance and flight times, and you can achieve that with a 15t pinion. A good 5000mah pack will give you a 5 minute flight, any higher HS and flight times drop quickly while the performance increase only the extremely proficient can utilize.

I'm no 3d expert but dam..I just love me some headspeed!lol I'm very content with around 4 minute flight time. I am currently running a cc 120hv talon, 15t pinion and stock 169t main governed at about 2300-2400hs and well...I want some more juice! I see alot of people saying good things about running a 16t and a 2500HS...but I can't find any steal 16t mod0.8 6mm pinions...
I ended up ordering the Lynx 133t main and 13t pinion although I'm concerned about the over heating issue. Has anybody tried using the optional 40mm fan for the cc 120 hv talon. |
