Default Major Break Through in Flying

Hey Gang,

Been fooling around with RC Heli's since 2004 or so, started with a Tiger 50 Nitro, and T Rex 450SE, back before I knew about HeliFreak...I came here to "follow" Finless Bob's videos (I forget where they started being shared), and to learn about how to set these things up and fly them...

This weekend, I passed a major milestone in flying- seems like when it "clicks", it all comes rushing together...Went to local park Sunday with Warp360 and Goblin500, 4 packs each, and started flying back and forth circuits...Getting really comfortable with getting the heli up and away from the ground, then loose but precise figure 8's both inward and outwards, then transitioned into pretty decent stall turns....

Next 2 packs, concentrated on stall turns, autorotation approaches, and then at the end of a stall turn I was 3-4 mistakes high, and I flipped the Warp360 not once but twice!
It behaved just like the Sim! totally in control, really 'effing cool! Once I got that one over with (and the floodgate was now open), almost every pass after that, I was a 'flippin' fool, and even got some inverted high passes in as well!

Flew every battery I had, tried to re-charge my Goblin500 batts, and my solder joint broke on the EC5 coming off the charger! Now I have a problem! I'm totally addicted again!

Just want to say Thanks to a bunch of people who have made the journey better, and more fun!

In no particular order:

Will James
Finless Bob
Archmage AU
Bert Kammerer/Bobby Watts
CaptJac
Freddy Cordova/Freddy Can Fly
Gitbse
tkranz
Slyster
Ray Hostetler
Robert Gorham
Chris Reibert
Ah Clem
Mr Mel
Curtis Youngblood
Mike Mas
Neil Armstrong

Just some of the people here on HF, and others who have inspired me, taught me...
If I missed anyone here on HF, I thank you for your help!

Now I have a problem...
All I wanna do is practice IRL and sim even more!

Thanks, and have a great week!

I'm feeling the same as you.

Started coaxial in Jan, then moved from FP to a 450x about a month ago.
Today my first flips and rolls!
PUMPED!!!

Captjac and Archmage played a big part. thanks!
Also a good sim is essential. Have not crashed the 450x yet, although am kinda looking forward to it so I can learn how to do a complete rebuild/setup.

Hooked!

I love it when a plan comes together .

It feels awesome when everything clicks into its place and you suddenly are doing things with your helicopter you never thought you ever would.
Good job, and you should know that this is just the beginning. Keep it up, and you'll get to enjoy this rush more often

Congrats!!!

I started in 2005 and never got passed small circuits. Finally have more that just me at the flying field with helis. Things are clicking now that I have other heli pilots to bounce things off of.

Doing flips and loops and rolls all this year.

Just keep up, and it will come.

Hey Gang!

More continued success this weekend.....First inverted hovers with controlled piros, albeit at altitude of 3-4 mistakes high, but still in total control! All on the Goblin500/Mini Vbar machine!

Really getting the 3D bug for sure know, more things are clicking on the sim as well...

Have to re-program my Warp360 MSH Brain for a "3D" style setting now, as I'm starting to write checks with the DX8 that the lil Warp360 can't cash! Went in lightly this afternoon attempting 2 backflips stationary...Didn't seem to have enough negative pitch on the collective to keep it at altitude....Oh well, not much damage, only main blades, and canopy standoffs....Not too bad!

Anyway, thanks for all the encouragement!

Good to hear progress still being made.

DX8/iKON/warp360 can cash some pretty big ego checks if set up right.

Hopefully the 360 is back in the air soon.

Up the cyclic DR in the DX8 (if not already at 100%). Also can set IKON to 3D Agility (and if too aggressive reduce TX DR till comfortable).

Best of luck. And keep it 3 mistakes high. It's a lot cheaper that way

Yes, Master Sensei!
360 will be airborn by Tuesday (just waiting on a set of 360 Zeal blades),and I had the cyclic DR in the DX8 at 95%, now that I'm comfortable/confident, I'll increase it to 100%, then program Ikon/Brain to 3D agility, and tone down to taste in the Tx if needed!

Your system of training has really helped my flying exponentially improve this season!
Can't thank you enough!

Thaks again!

Hey buddy... that's awesome! As i'm reading this thread, I am reliving my first experiences through your words! I remember clearly having this same exact feeling!

A few of us on HF here in NJ started meeting locally (well to a degree). Would love to add a new freak to the mix. PM me if you're interested in gettign together one weekend. Last time we all met we were at a club field in New Brunswick (Tri County RC). I know it's a hike but maybe we can work something out.

Congrats! I started around the same time. Took a long break but back with a vengeance, well a crashing one anyway. Keep up the good work. Your next breakthrough I'm sure will come along soon
