Default SK540:no log file when logging is ON

I have logging ON all the times. However, after upgraded to 4.05 last year, logging was no longer working. There was only one log file dated back to last September, 2014. I had been flying my heli with SK540, still no new log file was generated after each flight.

What could be the problem which prevent SK540 to generated log file ? SK540 is still flying fine. I am so used to it now.

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

Try to deactivate, unplug and then reactivate logging in software. If mot working, go in utility and select format SD card. If you get an error that the disk has issues from windows when plugging in then repair as per windows prompt.

Okay, I will try that. Thank you.

The log files never carry the current date btw. It is the date of the last software install they show. Never the logging date.

True, this is not easy to keep track of logs when uploaded to the computer. I don't know how difficult it is to include a clock or whatever it is called to stamp the files in a FBL unit - may not be that straight forward; even Kontronik logs are the same: the Kosmik ESC, although high end, do not have the ability to timestamp logs...

Its my understanding that unlike the 720 which can story many logs, the 540 only has a tiny logging space capability.

As stated, there is no clock and the date is irrelevant, so its likely that the log is being overwritten for each flight with the recent one depending on how long the flight is, so you may have the latest log and don't realize it

That was what I thought initially. I deleted the only log in SK540 early this week, and after 3 flights yesterday (Saturday) morning, I checked my SK540, no log at all. That's why I posted this question yesterday afternoon. I tried to reformat SK540 via Windows 8 but got error. I did not know that gyro setup software could format SK540 file system.

Thanks.

Ah, yes that's a different issue if no log at all. Maybe reformatting through the SK software will resolve it

My 720 gets a similar random issue from time to time. I start with a clean file, and know exactly how many flights I did every time I go out to fly, but occasionally one or two flights are missing. I reformat the card via the software when this starts to happen and the issue goes away again for several months.

=] HI, the 540 has a small chip for logging, it re-writes itself when full, and can hold more than one log, perhaps 3 at the most. there is no SD card in play here, the date shows when the last SW usb connection was made.

my comp>SK drive>right click>properties = for a healthy chip

Default Problem Solved !

Thank you for all the advices.

I flew my 450 Pro yesterday for 2 packs and I got a log file of 440kb in size. It was a valid log file with all the flight info.

What I did was reformat the storage via the PC setup software. I also enable/disable the logging too.

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

I didn't even know the SK540 had logging, figured it was just the 720 Mine never did anything when logging set to On. I'm gonna have to go try this now.

Thank you!

You must have the Data Viewer Pro license in order to read the the 540 logs. Of course there is no vibe logging either on the 540 since there are no accelerometers. Just channel, voltage and the other mappings.
