115T main gear
Hi all,
Does the latest 115T main gear fit the Raptor G4 (not 4.1)? I really can not find any answers on the Internet. Thank you, Bat

no it does not, you cant move the motor back, i bought one for my e720, i also have a G4 nitro, but i bought a custom made one from John Benario, he makes gears with a non standard gear widths (115t with same diameter) tt's gear is a standard cut gear, meaning it has a larger diameter

If it fits, why do they make special mention that it the frame has been updated to support 115T main gear?
I only have updated frames, never had an old one, don't know exactly what the difference is.

Oops.. My apologies. The 115T won't fit the G4. Fits the G4.1. Better work on my reading skills.

Seems like it would be pretty easy to slot the frames. Wouldn't you want to move the motor, clutch, and shroud forward?

I ordered one hope to have it soon. I am goin to strip down my g4 today to start the eval of how to make it fit. Primary concern area is the front of the main frames under the radio tray. not much meat there to slot the frames to move the cooling shroud forward. Other suspect area might be the front skid mount if moving the shroud is required. Any one know the gear size difference from 111 to 115? The other frame areas should not be an issue to slot in my opinion. Time will tell.

I just built a G4.1. The frames were only slotted about an eighth of an inch so you don't need much.
Edit: I pulled a frame screw from one of the slotted holes. They are only slotted approximately 3mm, in fact they are not slotted at all but are double drilled. Last edited by Glenn Goodlett; 01-18-2014 at 11:15 AM.. Reason: Add photo |

Re: 115T main gear
That would work. The g4.1 and e820 use the same template as the g4 and e720
Differences being the main gear and bell cranks fixings You can modify your frames to use the new bell cranks as well. But why bother :-) I might have to modify my g4 so I can use the 115 with my 105 Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2

Agree on the bell cranks, but changing the motor gear ratio for a nitro. Big.

I think you could use the new bellcranks without modifying the frames. The G4.1 frames are countersunk at the inside of the frames but I can't see why. Seems like you could just use regular socket heads instead of countersunk bolts. There are no clearance issues. I'll look at a buddy's G4 later today and try to confirm this.
Of course I can understand the concept of "why fix it, if its not broken". |

Navyraptor / Tim Tripoli: Does the Benario CNC 115T gear drop in to the standard G4 frames or are there modifications still required?
Just ordered one. Thanks.

Drop in fit on the Benario custom CNC 115T main gear for G4. Very nicely machined Delrin gear. Seems to be a very smooth fit with pinion.
Flight testing this weekend with new OS105HZR. #5 initial break-in flights last weekend on stock 111T main gear for comparison.

Flight report on Benario Custom CNC 115T "drop in" for stock G4/OS105. After 2 full months of flying, main gear is running awesome. Love the lower headspeed/higher torque. No signs of stress or wear after about 50 flights.
