Default Tempest FAI Main/Tail blade length question....

I have 690MM main blades and 110MM & 105MM tail blades. Which size should I set-up the heli with? Any advantage/disadvantage to either set? Does 5MM REALLY make a dramatic difference besides the piro rate a bit quicker & the tail being a little more athorative? (I am using V-Blade if that matters)

I have ran 700 and 710 mains w/ 105 tail. Worked great.

So do you think the 110MM & 105MM Tail blades I have might both be too long for the 690MM/Main I am going to use, Shannon? I don't mind changing the tail blades even smaller than 105MM if they need it, but I think the 690MM main will stay since getting any 710/720 V-Blades proved almost impossible, for me at least, recently.

Hi Todd,

The 690 main blades will be great, use the 105s on the tail, this is the perfect combo. A time back Tim S said not to run 110mm tail blades because the hub could let go. After they came out with the new heavy duty hub I asked Tim about running 110mm tail blades now with the new hub, at that time he told me to absolutely never run 110mm no mater what hub you had and that the new hub was designed to eliminate failures under the loads imposed by the 105s and may still fail when 110s are used

Russ, thank-you, that is the EXCACT answer I was looking for. No speculation on the matter, just a direct quote straight from the manufacture, about a excact issue! The 110MM V-B are going to be returned to the supplier I got them from since they cant be used in any combination of main/tail blades on my Tempest, and are therefore, are worthless to me. I wish the main distributors were better informed on the right way (ONLY WAY) to correctly outfit each particular brand of heli with the right parts they sell so I could simply buy one item, one time......The right item at that!

No problem Todd. Yes the shops screw up some times but in this case I don’t think this particular issue is defined in righting so I can see the shops not knowing

No big deal and I am sure they will refund my $ so I am only out shipping costs both ways and some time spent at the local USPS station. I am just happy to have it right, the first time
