Default Lifted 450! no tail strikes, more stable on ground

Align 600 Landing gear drilled to match 450 mounting holes.
HK 450 Glow in dark tail stab w/ old tail blades attached at factory drilled hole in stab

This is not a new Idea just my take on it. I first put the 600 gear on it after a cut down training gear proved useless. The ground is pretty rough the places I fly and the longer skids caused the heli to tilt back enough for the tail blades to touch a high spot bent tail shaft. the original tail stab was a bit shorter than the glow one and it literally slid right down in between 2 pieces of gravel.
This caused me to add the modded tail stab i used a self tapping screw and put a piece of servo horn where a nut would go.

There are some other pics in my album All in all neither mod was difficult and now I can land whenever and almost where ever without fear of tipping tail strikes etc.

**Update***** 4 flights later and this setup has saved me at least twice, 1st time was to much cyclic not enough collective would have rolled over on takeoff, and the second: was hovering in ground effect when the wind shifted and pushed it down pretty hard would have snapped standard lg or bent metal and caused blade strike in gravel.

Cool.

When I had a 450 I used landing gear from a 500. It worked real nice for the grass.

Yeah it's my first so I don't even notice a difference in the air especially since I don't fly hard. Knowing I can bail and land in a mud puddle (not recommended) , tall grass, on top of leaves and twigs, deep loose gravel, rough rutty field or whatever really helps me with confidence.

Default Big skids Maybe not the best idea

after hitting the dirt pretty hard at 20deg pitched up and 35deg roll right I expected to pick up the pieces install crash kit and go on but those hefty skids didn't give or break instead transferred the force to the frame which wasn't nearly as strong. I mentioned this crash in another thread, and will try to get some pics of the remaining frame pieces
