Default OS 50 Hyper Airplane

I've got a Hanger 9 Twist #D 40 that I'm thinking about putting an OS 50 SX-Hyper on. Anybody done this? I hear you can use a drive washer and prop washer from an OS 61 and run a APC 12.25x3.75 prop. Not sure about a muffler.

I heard that an OS 46 muffler will work but I want good power and throttle response. Was looking at this Mac muffler but don't know if it will fit. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...652+&search=Go

Edit....Some OS 61's have a 1/4" Shaft and some have 5/16" shaft. The OS 50 Hyper is 1/4". I'm having a hard time sorting out what to get since I don't have a LHS to measure stuff. The closest is 100 miles. I have to do everything via mail.

I saw a freind fly one in a Showtime 50. It definatley pulled it around strong. You need the woodruff key and propdrive, I bench ran one when I was a newbie and did not know any better. The crank is on the short side for a prop though, you may not get a spinner on it. PM Heli-cuzz on here he can give you the info, he had the Showtime.

What was the problem with bench running it with a prop? As long as you keep the rev's under control and the temperature it should be ok, right?

Running on the bench was not the problem I just don't feel it is worth the hassle. I break mine in during flight now.

Yes. I mounted a hyper to a showtime 50 plank. I loved it. The whole entire plank was finished with heli parts. I used ball links for all the control surfaces. 9252 servos all around with a dual elevator servo set-up.
I can say that engine was balls to the wall perfect for that plank.
Hang it on the prop, torque rolls, harrier rolls, and knife edges about 200 yards long from 6 to 12 inches off the deck. Fast or slow, the motor seemed to pull through everything.
I put 6 gallons on it before it went in to its death. A high speed vertical climb to a front snapping flip with a roll.... The RX battery ejected and it went in at full throttle from about 50 feet. It exploded into a bezillion pieces.

I ran a 12.25X3.75APC as you mentioned. That prop is butter. I tried several and that was the best.
The 46 muffler fits fine. At first I used a heli exhaust and it went across the front instead of pointing back. LoL
Then I got the OS exhaust and made it look normal. I also burned CY wildcat30% heli for the smoke trail. Looked fantastic on a clear day.

Cool, I'm gonna give it a try, It's ashame about the crash though. My Twist did the same thing from about 30 feet up and wide open into the dirt. It took me about 40 hours to put it back together. (I guess I was bored) Anyway it looks and flies almost like new. My evolution .46NT is getting tired and low on power.

I built a F-40 propjet and put an old OS 50 SX-H in it with a tuned pipe. The crank is a bit short but if you use a thinner washer it works fine. The engine runs great, has tons of power, and really pulls that little jet around the field fast. IIRC I am using a 9X8 prop and I could still go up a little in pitch. I run the 12.25X3.75 on a 46 FX and it really screams, I cant imagine it working well with a high powered 50.

I can't wait to try it out. I just order a Hyper and Drive washer and a Macs #9590 one piece pipe. I'll let you know when it comes in.

I make all my two piece pipes into one with JB Weld.
Looking forward to hearing what you think.
