Default Solid red light during flight?!

Was flying my 550sx yesterday.. About 2 minutes into the flight, the LED went solid red.. Apparently indicating initialization? This seems....bad?

This happened on at least 3 flights... Once when i went below my defined hard deck and the heli started spinning and tumbling out of control. Luckily I was able to flip into manual and save it before a crash... :o

Anyone have an idea what thats all about?

I only have vibration logs. Sucks that you can't have both; I never look/care about playback logs....

Perhaps any clues as to what it MIGHT be? I've never seen this before.

Only time I've had that happen was from static on my Outrage 550. I had to ground the boom. I didn't have to do that with Vbar so I think the SK is more sensitive to it.

Not sure what a "550sx" is (Logo?) but does it have a belt?

Yeah, Logo 550sx.. It is belt driven and there is an anti-static kit that I don't have installed.. I figured since the frame is plastic and the FBL sits on the plastic frame, it was more then well insulated..

Insulated is not what you want.

Lol.. good point.. I meant insulated from generated static in the belt.

Isn't the FBL grounded already to the battery via the connections?

you want the boom grounded to the motor mount. I just did it with a wire. try your static kit.

Mine does that some times too. You can unplug it and plug it back in and sometimes it'll go green sometimes it wont. on the times it doesn't i ususally flip my cyclic and tail gain switches and it'll turn green, don't ask me why it does it, or what causes it I have no clue and gave up trying to trouble shoot it. At first I thought it was because i was using end points for gain and when it was on the (-) side it would always stay red, until i flipped to a (+) value and it would go green. So i checked the "lock gain" boxes in the setup and seen if that made a difference. Still kinda 50/50 on if it'll turn green or not after it initalizes. I have 2 of these units on 2 diff heli's and they all do the same thing. Still fly's fine either way. Even on the flight program heli's, I can't really tell a difference other than it eating a hole in the back of my head since I know it's the wrong color., lol

You have to ground the tail. You can connect it to the baterry as well. Mine is connected tail to SK and from there to main pack minus - SK to main pack is needed for the phase sensor.

I didn't have that issue, but I also have the grounding kit installed on my 550SX.

Hopefully I'll get some air time this weekend.
