I was going to talk you wonders about the parkzone strykerQ, seems you don't want a fast plane.
But the stryker also flyes very nicely at low speeds, it has a very large wing area. It's a funny, versatile and thought plane

Me too, though I'm happy with it. I like to mix "flying big" with some 2D-ish stuff (tic-tocks, stationary flips, etc.) I wish we had more heli guys in my area!

"thermal" = rising warm air. They key is that the air is moving up, and it can take your plane up with it. You can turn off the prop and basically be a glider as long as you stay inside the mass of upwardly moving air. Yet another aspect of the hobby to learn, challenge yourself and master. Fun!

The Zagi was originally designed as a slope soaring glider. Mine weighs only 18 oz. and frequently will climb with power off on rising air currents which are called thermals. I caught one down in Tennessee over a large parking lot and although I had full down on the elevons and motor off, it still continued to climb!
My friend taught himself how to fly R/C with his Zagi. He busted the fairing a couple of times but never broke the EPP foam wing! Even after he hit the side of a barn at full diving speed!

i've been through all the ultra micro stuff....now i'm looking at the HobbyZone Apprentice 15e. it's a nice size plane that uses 4channels so i can get used to more aileron control....but it can fly at a slower speed with full control. and at a higher speed you can get into some light acrobatic type flying

Ordered myself a Techone 1100mm Yak 54, should be here Friday. I am loving foamy planes. For my MC2 I have only had to buy more glue.

Been thinking of buying a plank myself. My research tells me that a Nextstar .46 would be a good starter.

Nextstar is a good trainer if you like nitro, I'm torn between getting a nitro or electic. I have a Parkzone corsair and it flies really nice and uses my 3s from my 450 but it is light and not too good in the wind. I've been looking at the eflight Yak 54
