Looks cool to me - I don't see any major safety issues. Hand-launching is necessary on the slope. I don't think it's an unacceptable risk.

I remember reading about it somewhere last year. It was a Venture 50. Only the frame, 3 cyclic servos, rx, rx battery. And no tailrotor, it used only the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.

+1 there was no power train in the heli... and you don't "need" a tail rotor to auto rotate!

With all the weight gone, I bet the head speed was lower than 1100....

Biggest risk was when he had to climb down and get the heli!

I would not want to get hit with it, but I don't think it would do much damage at the really low head speed, and with no power behind it...
