Thumbs up New VX275TT running like a powerhouse!

Well, just ran my new VX275TT on the Quickdraw pipe for the first time. Still tuned on the rich side and by all accounts making more power than my first 275.

Awesome work Al!.. I'm not sure what you did with the porting on this one but it works.

Hi LoveToFly1,

10 litres in metric which is just under the American 3 gallons I think. Hang on, I'll do the quick online conversion....... Yep, 2.64 Gallons

Basically, I ran it long enough for it to settle. This allowed me time to confidently know where the motors optimal power delivery tuning was so i could use that as my reference point. As always, I use hard flying, engine temp, plug colour and motor sound as my guides to reach that.

An interesting point to note was that this motor "spoke" to me differently than the first 275 I had on the pipe. Particularly with how it "four stroked" as I was leaning it for power on my highest headspeed. I don't know fully how to explain it in words but this version of the 275 engine just doesn't seem as "heavy" or "chunky". It feels really kind of "broad" on the needles as it's being tuned and runs powerful. But there is definitely something about the motor (the one I have that I can speak for) and it feels Good!

This motor is definitely on the right track Al... It delivers.

Have fun with your motor

good deal. I plan to run around 4-5 gal through my 275 before I put the pipe on it. I am newer at gassers than you I am pretty sure, so I plan on really getting to know this motor before I slap the tuned pipe on it.

Default Awesome!

Sounds like a good plan. There is some great knowledge and experience around here with the likes of Doug D and FastFlyer to name just a few. Oh, and of course "Al" himself at TRM.

Best of luck and I'm sure you'll have a great run with it.

Looks great!

Mine is broken in and pulling strong. All read to be installed in the new Goblin conversion.

Very Nice Tom,

I look forward to being able to see it in the air with the new Gob conversion.

Toxic Al is where I received my training! I have one of his TRM270tt motors and it is running like a champ! I have two other fellow pilots flying the TRM270tt motors. I keep their motors running in top shape. So I know what eluminous means by "...this motor "spoke" to me..." I've been experiencing this myself. Basically, I can tell when the motor needs an adjustment on the needles.

So after talking with Carey...and buying the conversion kit from him...I'm planning on building a Goblin conversion for myself, and installing the TRM275 SE motor. This should be fun!

Go for it rcnut and as Doug said, you "will" love it.
Keep us posted as you get the "Gas Gobby" in the air if you can.

It may be a little while, still need to save some cash for the rest of the things needed. Possibly work some overtime! I've been talking to Toxic Al about his TRM275 and I can't wait to get it! He designed this motor specifically for the Goblin 700. I can't wait!

Now, what about needing to lube the belts??? I've been reading posts about some type of belt dressing? Possibly reducing static build up or deterioration?

A little silicone will reduce the drag and help the belts last longer.
I have not heard of any static issue with the Goblin since the ID of the boom is large.
They also recommend some lube on the main gear.

What is nice is there is no need for a tuned pipe. At 1750 the goblin is graceful yet aerobatic. Crank the 275 up to 2000+ and 3d is easy.

Is the lube on the main gear necessary? If so, what type/brand?
