Hello guys,
I'm using the settings given in the first post of this topic in the Edge 120HV and 800MX of my 700E Pro DFC. I'm having the following overshoots and undershoots issues (using 4.19 firmware): When I switch from Normal to Idle 1, or Idle 2, the head speed overshoots and then settles down. When I switch from Idle 1, or Idle 2, to Normal, the head speed undershoots and takes a few seconds to settle up. Action taken so far: I raised the Governor Gain from 6 to 8, and didn't notice any improvement. I think lowering the Head Speed Change Rate will help, but this settings also affects the Auto-Rotation bail out ramp up speed, which is just fine with the maximum setting of 20. I believe having a separate Head Speed Change Rate for the Autorotation Bail Out feature will help a lot. Any idea how to fix these issues? David

So I'm hoping someone sees this. I've got a 30lb cameraship with Edge 815 blades. I've got the Ice2 120, and had been using the 700mx since 2012. The 700mx 470kv even at 1550, or 1600rpm has drawn no more than 30amps. I'm using a 112/10t combo. I moved up to a newer 800mx 440kv, and had to use a 11t pinion to get my rpm range, and I'm drawing 40amps hovering now. The logs showed 140F, when normally with the 700mx it barely hits 100F. Its Feb in Virginia. I have all those exact settings recommended as far as timing etc. The only difference is gov gain is at 10 and I believe I need to bring that down.
Does the 800mx just draw more current? |

Simplistically, yes, it will draw more current but will have more power in reserve. You could attach a fan to the ESC and that will help lower temps.

I moved timing from 12khz to 8khz and the temps went down but still running warmer than I remember with the 700mx. I almost believe I need to go back to a 700mx, or xnova/xera in the same size. I dont need powerful. Its AP, and nothing extreme. Lower current helps me with longer flight times which is more important.
Stay tuned because I'll put the 700mx back in when I replace the main shaft and bearings. |
