Default Goblin 630 accident - NSFW

I just saw this on Reddit. It should be a reminder to ALL OF US. Something mid-flight can go horribly wrong even just hovering! Respect the heli! Reading this is going to have me take a few more steps back from all my helicopters...

As I commented earlier in the Helicopter Safety sub-forum, pre-flight checks are of utmost importance after a build. So is familiarity with the use of TH.

The first time I spooled up my 550x and took off, i stood behind a light pole at the field where I fly, about 30 feet away. After riding motorcycles for years, I respect machines that can kill you.

Why is the scar on the wrong side of his face did anyone else catch that. In the healed photos one pic the scar is on his right side which is were he got cut. But in another photo the scar is on his left side.

Perhaps a mirror is involved.

Oh man... just looked at the photos. I can't even imagine going through that! Glad to see that he's all healed up but that must have been a looooong road to recovery. These helicopters that we love so much are incredibly dangerous! I don't care how good you are, how thorough your pre flight inspection is, how diligent you are about performing routine maintenance... that kind of thing can happen to any one of us at any time. The risks that we assume every time we energize a heli is just short of insanity. I hate to see anyone get hurt... and that one looks like it really, really hurt. Glad he is ok.

Professional pilots as Bert in the video should be role models teaching people to fly safer and from a distance, not the heli smacking going on the video; people who follow them will try to do the same elevating the risk of something bad happening, not only it's really bad for the person in the accident but also for the hobby itself.

I'll fly smack, but even just test hops, I step back. Never know when something could break, just as with full scale. If I'm doing hurricanes past my face, it's with a 130x.

You're really lucky to be alive man

Accidents like this one just tugs us back to reality a bit, it can happen at any time anywhere.

I keep telling others, especially newbies, that these things if not handled with care can be very dangerous, even I myself can be very stupid sometimes

I don't mean any disrespect to the newcomer of this hobby, but it's like since the 450 electric heli came out people don't think they are dangerous at all. A 450 can aslo be dangerous, whether it can be fatal or not is debatable.

And with all these vids where people stand so close to heli's doing smack ( , its crack for heli's ), all sense of danger is not evident at all!!

Like I_Bent_It said, respect the heli!!

Glad to see the guy has recovered from this horrible accident.
