Default Rave ENV Gasser??

Hey all,

I am having such a good experience with my ENV that I found a good deal on a Ballistic 700 and bought it as well I am going to be looking into a gas engine for the ENV and have the Ballistic for my electric. Has anyone ever put a gas engine in one before? If so, let me know and what setup you used. Thanks!!!

I've honestly never heard of it. I'd imagine it could be done, it's a very flexible (modification wise) airframe.

However, unless your heart is dead set on gas, I would recommend looking into nitro as well. More expensive operating costs, but the ENV really SHINES when equipped with nitro. It just seems like the machine was built for, and more comfortable with a nitro in it.

I'd imagine gas would be similar, but not as powerful. Get a good powerful YS and you will be haulin' ass.

I wouldn't say I am dead set on gas but I would really love some long flight times and cheap fuel! How long of flights are you getting with the YS?

Here is my attempt on a ENV with the OS GT15 engine.

The problems I encountered were over heating and fuel delivery issues.
This was with a pre production engine.

At 1700 rpm I can get 14 or so minutes. 1950 gives me a good 10-11, depending on how hard I push it. Usually when I fly with other people, I cut my flights to 5 minutes. That leaves just over half a tank, then fire it right up the next time and finish the tank.

Mystar, did you do a bunch of troubleshooting with it? I am guessing you did since you were pretty specific what the problems were. Were there things you didn't try that might work? There is a thread in the gasser heli section that the Guru said that the ENV would be a very good contender. If not, I will probably just go Nitro with the ENV and save money up for a Goblin 700 Gasser conversion I've got some time to research more before I buy the motor and conversion kit for the ENV.

14 minutes at 1700 is nothing to scoff at for Nitro!!! That actually surprises me greatly after the little flight time I got with a Raptor 60 with an OS .70 in it. If more research into gas doesn't bring fruitful results, I will be coming back to ask your setup

blue, as of right now the ENV gasser has been on hold until I see these issues resolved for the GT15ZH.
When I did have the engine running it seemed great but it was only for a short amount of time.
There was not much to try with the cooling system. I kept the stock fan/shroud system which I thought was plenty adequate.
With the fuel delivery, I decided to add a Perry pump for gas and that seemed to help but the engine was running hot and would vapor lock.

So after all of the input from the fellows on here, Nitro it is!

Gitbse, which ys do you use? There looks to be quite a few 91s out there! Also, do you run a governor and if so, which one? And do you use a on board glow igniter?

Does anyone have experience with multiple engine brands to compare them for me?

Yea, I have a YS91 SR. It's an older model, but still makes good power. A few generations old I think. I traded for it with a hatori SB19 included.

YS is the brand to go with. OS engines are nice, but YS makes more power. Not to mention you can get a SRX Tareq for $100 less than a OS105, and the YS arguably makes more power.
YS had a bad reputation for being hard to tune right, but it's not true anymore. Mine fires right up, and has a large tuning window. Did I mention lots of power?

I would recommend going with at least the 91 3ds, or would especially recommend the 91SRX Tareq model. That will be my next engine.

As for a governor, I use the SK540 governor. It's flawless.

Well. My final decision has been made. I just can't go nitro. I really want to go gas or stay electric. I did fly the Ballistic for the first time today! Wow! It flies awesome! It is even better than the electric ENV. It is also slighter under a half pound lighter with the exact same equipment in it.

So because of the Rave only being able to work with the questionable OS 15, my ENV parts are for sale. And will have spare parts for the Ballistic
