500l dominator canopy mod
Hi all
i finished building my trex 500L dominator this morning and took it out for a test flight. all went well, the only thing I dont like is the canopy is a pig to get on, a real pain. you have to stretch it so much to get over the pins you can hear it crack. any body got any good ideas, mods or parts to buy to make it any easyer thanks in advance

your right. Getting the canopy on and off is a real pain and its not too long before cracks start to develop making the whole thing look very second hand.
I asked the same question on another forum and received the following tip. Reduce the length of the two front mounting posts by about 4mm. This really does help with the fitting of the canopy. Using magnetic fixings on the rear mountings helps too.....but at a cost! |

Align must know about this minor problem. How much effort would it take to sort this out at the factory?

I was just about to open a thread titled "Canopy grommets: I hate them! I hate them! I hate them!" Every time before flight I have to fiddle with the canopy, it makes everything look so unprofessional. You know when you bring your friends to show them how the thing flies… but they start leaving because you need like 2 minutes to fight those 4 grommets

This thread I wrote is very old, but in it, I mention several issues I found with thre 500L.
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...omparison+500L One of the issues was the crappy canopy problem, and how to fix it. It's all there Kind regards Alex |
