new x 50
Hello all my new x 50 will be hear on wed.
I have flown r 50 before with the old style swash. but am a little concerned about needing a swash leveling tool. I plan on using 9252 and 611 with spektrum receiver and dx8. I am also worried about my dx8 i got a few years ago and have not used it on a heli yet |

I build mine without any swash leveling tool, no pitch gauge, and I ended up not even using the measurements on the linkages.
After an initial "measurement" issue on my build, which I just corrected with some sense of physics, the build was great! I had her done in less than two days after work, complete and in the air. Hovers perfect, trims are three to four clicks off zero, and I'm happy! If you understand the basics of heli mechanics, you really do not "need" the leveling tools, pitch gauges, and the like, in my opinion (and my opinion is only the opinion of someone who has been flying RC helis for 3 and a half months, so I am no expert....)

Regarding the swash leveling tool, it all depends upon how precise you want to be. On the 600N I had, I just eye-balled the head setup and everything was fine. I still used a pitch gauge though, but even that's not necessary as Deth said. On the Furion 450 I built and flew, I never put a gauge of any kind on it. I just set the swash mixes and rates according to how I wanted it to fly. To this day I couldn't tell you how much collective and cyclic pitch it had. However, if you're going to build it FBL, you'll want a leveler and need a pitch gauge for sure. If your DX-8 is working on airplanes? It should work fine with a heli. Also, if you get the time check out Kou's excellent build thread on his X50. Good luck!!

Thanks for ad Bob .
Swash levelling tool you won't need. I built mini titan as my very first heli without. Later i got one for 5mm shaft but until this day i still didn't use it . For X50 i also ordered swash tool for 10mm shaft and again i got it after i was done with the build (pre-maiden and pre-governor tho) and guess what... It still wasn't on the shaft so far and i am flying . Pitch gauge i would recommend. I got one after maiden and i was doing some adjustments to the links to get 0 degrees. I still have to adjust high and low pitch as i have them a bit too hardcore for my flying. Last but not the least : Welcome to the X50 club!
