Default 2nd Defective DX8G2

I received a 2nd defective DX8G2 from Horizon Hobby. The first one had a miswired right knob and scratchy left gimbal. The replacement has a bad speaker and miswired right knob.

Spektrum quality control is HORRIFIC. It's one of the reasons why I bailed on Blade stuff. And I'm close to killing Spektrum.

I guess the first batch of DX8G2 transmitters all have a miswired right knob.

what is the test to see if the right knob is miss wired? I'm thinking of picking up a dx8 in the next day or two and would like to check that in my lhs before laying down my hard earned cash.
cheers

I have a dx8 g2 from the first batch and haven't noticed anything wrong. What should I be looking for if the knob is installed wrong

Default 2nd Defective DX8G2

I received a third DX8G2 today. When I map the Governor to the right knob, turning it all the way to the left results in Position 2. Far right results in Position 0. This is the opposite of how my DX7G2 operated. I assumed the knob was wired incorrectly.

What's interesting is that the knob appears to operate normally while in the Monitor view. I didn't check this on the first two.

I guess it's some kind of software glitch. That's Spektrum for ya. They always fall short.

I'll just reverse the channel. And the speaker is nice and crisp on #3.

If you fly the Brain/Ikon or AR72xx units it's hard to stray from Spektrum. All of the other solutions cost a LOT more and result in additional hardware.

That's interesting. I just decided to try this for grins on my transmitters. On my DX9, the knob shows -100% all the way to the left and +100% all the way to the right. That's equivalent to position 2 all the way to the left and position 0 all the way to the right.

However, on my original DX8 (not a G2), the opposite happens - it's +100% all the way to the left and -100% all the way to the right.

Both transmitters had the channel set to "normal" - not "reversed".

The DX9 works the way I'd think would be intuitive - the value of the channel increases as you turn the knob clockwise. I don't think of the knob's output in terms of switch positions since it's a variable type of input.

I like mapping the right knob to the gyro, not governor. Sorry for the confusion.

So... your first post ends up being a bit exaggerated, isn't it? No mis-wiring of the knob, no horrific QC... and they even sent you two replacements... time to review your opinions?

In hindsight, maybe. At the time I had a DX7G2 directly in front of me. On that unit turning the right knob to the left equaled position 0. And turning it all the way to the right equaled position 2. Logical, right? When the DX8G2 did the opposite I assumed the knob wasn't soldered correctly.

I haven't had a great experience with Spektrum stuff. Back in my Blade days their servos were maddening. Some even completely dead out of the box. Regarding transmitters, I once had a DX6 in which the wheel randomly skipped selections.
