Default 600/700?

Just wondering if either a 600 or 700 size is in the works?

They are. But the only thing we know is that it will be single belt drive just like the current Protos and Mini Protos and have carbon fiber frame.

Yeah, they are in the works from 2009.

I moved on to other vendors...

Maybe...I got one of the first kits back in 2008.

Was considering stretch but ended with X5 instead.
Back in a day Protos was almost exclusive at my flying field, me and all of my buddies had one.
Now, we all moved to something bigger... bummer

Still waiting for some 12S bird... but I hope its out quick. X7 is just around the corner

I love the single belt concept, but I'm not sure how well it would scale up to a 700 sized heli.

I think Goblin has a decent concept for a two stage belt drive system belt to main gear and belt to tail.

The problem is that people want to put some SERIOUSLY powerful motors in 700 sized helis, like the new Scorpion 13KW peak motor that can draw 300A peak!

That's not to say it can't happen, but a serpentine belt with all that torque is more tenuous.

The way these powerful motors are coming along with massive torque, I just can't see a single belt working in a large heli. I would be perfectly fine seeing a big belt between motor and main gear and smaller belt from aux gear to tail with 1-way in the aux gear. It would still be just as quiet and would auto extremely well.

It seems that tt's are not working all that great on helis with tons of power either!

it has been proved a belt can tranfer more power and is more efficient than a geared system.

maybe, but belts not sure if they can handle quick stop reversals and such. No wonder the xxtreme went to TT with a huge belt.

Have you seen the hard stops the goblin is capable of?
Belts can handle heaps of power.

The motor to main gear is where the heaps of power needs to be and that is where the failures stripping main gears issues getting the mesh just right can be a problem.

The nice thing about having a belt going to the tail is just low parts count when eats dirt, it is not as efficient as a TT. That said both TT and belts can have different efficiencies.

The bad side is that I know people who have COMPLETELY lost their heli's because the tail belt snapped. I've never heard of a TT failure in flight. They just involve more parts and time to rebuild.

On my TDR I'll take the TT any day of the week, but if there was a belt drive to the main gear I wouldn't mind that.

On the Protos I love it!

Maybe not torque tubes but i have seen plenty of gears fail in flight

Just back from the field with my Big Protos................................ssssshhhhhhh h don't tell the belt she can't handle all that power...........she doesn't seem to mind

Excellent Corrado. I know it will take you some time to develop but can't wait to see it, post up some "spy" shots for us when you can.

Great! I must resist going bigger...
Corrado, pleas chime in more often (although I know you must be very busy). Your presence on the forums was one of the great things MSH had and has towards the buyers.
