Repair maiden didn't go so well
I think something in the main gear broke. I heard a snap and it just fell to the ground. You can see the main shaft is touching the frame bottom

maybe the main shaft collar wasn't locked down and let the main shaft slip?

Or the main shaft locking collar was not tight. Both situations would cause a bind on the main gear, causing breakage....

Here's closeups of the main gear assembly. You can see how the rotor housing pins punchered the swash.
The repairs were to the tail. The main shaft, gears, bearing blocks, had been working fine for a long time. You can see how a screw on the main gear case is missing and looks like its torn out of the casing. I'll try to upload a picture of the bottom bearing block but it looks like the screw worked it's way put and clipped the bottom bearing block.

Yeah, after looking at it.. I think thats what happened.. looks like one of the hub screws came loose, hit the bearing block and just locked it up and shattered the auto gear where it bolts to the main shaft. Man, never seen that before.

Yup, looks like the gear case/main gear screw fell out and locked the works up, causing catostrophic failure.
The main gear case screw, being a self tapper, is easy to strip the plastic main gear, if the screws are over tightened....

Sorry for your loss there Ron.. I know its a total bummer, more so after a repair.
Sometimes, this is how it is in this hobby. I know it doesnt make anything better...but we all go through this kinda crap.. one thing after another. This is what seperates the enthusiast from the Freak. Crash, rebuild, fly it harder....

Well, I am a champion over tightener but I'm pretty good about replacing stripped parts. All 3 cyclic servos have stripped gears and on one the post came out. I need to look at them next.

I actually hate the mechanical failures more...
If I dumb it in, I can laugh it off and call myself a dumbass, and take "The Walk". Mechanical failures piss my ass off. I guess knowing that I'm going to have to spend money and time fixing something that wasnt my fault kinda ticks me off. I know its not realistic, but I still have, in the back of my head, the thought that, as much as this stuff costs...it should all function like my fine Swiss watch.....perfect, forever.

Sometimes a mechanical issue is something I should've caught during maintainance or something I put together wrong but other than that I feel like a mechanical crash isn't my fault.
I got the servos 're-geared'. I was worried the one was broken beyond repair. Tomorrow I'll go through my inventory and see what I need to order. Need to decide if I'm going to reuse the one way bearing and sleeve. They look and feel OK but I'm just not sure. I also need to decide if I'm going back to the belted tail. This whole mess started when I installed the TT tail.

Here's the part list: canopy, boom braces, swash, main gear, main gear holder, auto gear, flybar, feathering shaft, main bearings, main bearing holders, servo arms, servo gears, boom, TT Shaft. Some of it I have but it looks like about an $100 crash.

Arghhhhhh! That's the worst. I hate spending money on a crash. I would much rather put the money towards an upgrade of sorts. Lol best of luck in your future flights.
