Default 550 DFC to FBL conversion?

Looking at the DFC and FBL heads it seems that they both use the same grips and arms and the FBL head seems to use the same hub with washout guides than the flybar head uses, except that the washout base has a set screw.

My question is, could I replace the DFC links with ball links and then put an FBL washout base and arms on? Will the set screw be enough or does it actually need those washout guide pins? I know a number of other FBL heads just use a set screw and no other support on the washout base (although I prefer RJX's single piece split clamp style washout the best)

I ask this because while HK has a good price on the Innova 550, they only have the DFC version and I want a standard FBL head. (DFC isn't good for moderate headspeeds)

Default DFC Head issues

You can still use the original KDS wash out its fine.. i use them no dramas... other than that you can use any washout for a FBL version only thing you have to watch is if you replaced the the main shaft for the DFC shaft its a lot shorter... so if the washout is not connected to the head directly then you need the old main shaft for the swash room to get full pitch.. been there done that :-)

cheers

Actually the arms coming off the blade grips are different between the FBL and the TDT style head.
