$20 MG digital servo?
Would anyone trust to use this servo on their 500? I'm about to start buying parts to build myself one and I really like the price and specs of these servos.

I can't speak for the quality, but its about the size of a Hitec HS65, to small to fit a 500

The manual lists a number of servos tha will fit. The Futaba 9257 and 9650 will fit as will the metal geared Hitec 5245, although they were imfamous for the case breaking in a crash awile back. Check their size and shop from there.

Is that servo I found a proper size for the rex 450? I'm still in limbo about which heli I'm going to buy. If these will fit a 450 I'll probably go with that.

Is there any real advantage to MG servos? On smaller helis, the MGs will save the servo. But at this size, it's probably better to let the drive train absorb some of the damage vice transfering it to the servo motor.
Another thing I don't like about MG servos is that they have a bigger backlash than nylon gears. Just get some 9650s and a 6 or so 9650 gear sets.

spend once and save
get 3517s or 3650s if you're going to get the 500 even the case is tough

I flew the hitec hs-225mg servos for a long time. They are the same as the 5245 just not digital and they are only $27

I have the MKS 9660 metal gears in my 9650s and they have less backlash than the plastc gears had! |

Oops, so much for trying to post from a blackberry. I've tipped mine over a couple of times. The big blades really are tricky as the thing spools down - if there is a good gust of wind it really can blow it over.
Hey, Align specs the 500 to run with Hitec 82MGs, which are $20 metal geared servos. I have a set if you want to buy them! And the Align spacers make them a perfect fit too!

I got Hitec 82MGs on my cyclic in my 500 and with well over 200 flights, not had a minutes problem with them and can do everything I am capable off, tictocs, inverted circuits, pitch pumping etc, just a pain to get in the frames so just fit them before you put the frames together and no probs
