Default '50 Cent' extreme duty spindle tools

Lets just say some guy I know put a little too much thread locker on his spindle nut last time it was replaced. Great news, she held like a champ. Not so great news, she held so good that I (errr, he) stripped the little toys blade calls spindle tools trying to get it off today. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, so may I present to you the 50 cent spindle tool set. Get yours while supplies last!

ps - it is illegal to deface government property so, of course, do not try this at home.

Well, the first pic shows how the coins engage both ends of the spindle. The second pic shows how to do it with the spindle in the grips... the coins slide in like the blades do. You will need the blade grips unhooked from the linkages so they can spin with the coins. I checked and they will work with the stock grips/head as well.

Ok, back to beer and basketball!

OR! since you solved the problem for the rest of us (with still good toy spindle tools), We can leave the linkages on and just break the thread free with a tiny twist and then go back to using the toys! Enter the 50 cent spindle-threadlock-breaker.

Yes, use the stock ones if you have them until the going gets tough. These are not as convient but can send even the most stubborn spindles home crying to mommy!

I saw someone with a high quality metal tool for these nuts on a video once. I'd like one, but I don't know how to search for them because I don't know what these nuts are called. 2-sided nuts?

Can't you use two pennies and make a 2cent spindle tool set? I'm on a budget!

Quarters are the perfect thickness. Pennies are thinner so they would work too, but they wouldn't give you quite as good of a grip on the spindle.

Wait, was that a serious question?

Those who can afford it can go for the more expensive 'fitty-cent-piece' version.

Default Too Funny !

After reading the thread about the complaints of a bad batch of bullet blades and the starter who doesn't realize that his crashes are the root of the problem...

This is a welcome chuckle...

Thank You !

I found them like this and they just happened to work perfect. That is my story and I am sticking to it. I actually messed one up in the process and I fully intend to still spend it. Put that in your pipe and smoke it uncle sam!

Default But, don't you...

...have to have a really fast throttle, and tremendous amount of pitch, to fly those "blades", a la picture #2?? Seems you would be better off, with the top of soup cans, size-wise...

My rotary tool with a cutoff wheel. It was a bit too narrow of a cut so I had to wiggle it back and forth a bit to widen up the slot. I am sure there are a number of other tools you could use for this too.
