Default Out of box: Frames have different thickness

Built a Protos Carbon 500 new out of box.

Afterwards noticed that the right and left frames are of different thickness, 1.5mm vs. 2.0mm (photos attached).

I'd contact the retailer and get it sorted before you crash (not due to the frame) and need to buy one because it broke.

Just fly it.... Tolerance on the carbon sheet's they cut the frames out of are crap. one end of the sheet might be 1.2mm while the other end might be 1.0mm .. it gets a bit better once they start using thicker sheets, but even then you can get differences ..

Its just a frame .. just fly it ...

You have a point there. I will contact them.

I had the same problem with my Mini Protos. One frame side was 1.5mm thick and the other 0.9mm thick. You could bend it like paper. I contacted a number of online MSH retailers and asked them to measure their stock, but all of them were of unequal thickness. I ended up buying a set, using one good side and throwing the other away. I've never had this issue with any other model so I don't accept that it as normal.

Add pix to my post (1.5 mm vs. 2.0mm). Dealer claims 1.5 mm is spec.

What are yours?

Thanks,
Frank

I wouldn't complain about anything thicker than 1.4mm. They must have improved QC since I had my 0.9mm one.

I recently ordered Fusuno 'thick' 1.6mm frames for my mini. They came in at 1.1mm. Just a warning to others. Stock frame is nominally 1.5mm.

Thank you FastLad (www.fast-lad.co.uk) for no quibbles sorting me out with a stock frame replacement at their own expense. Well impressed.
