Default Castle ESC end points

Hi

This the the first 540 I have setup, I have a question on setting up the ESC end points.

I have completed the 4 wizards.

I have to set the end points for the castle esc, is it ok to do this after the wizards or should I do it before the last wizard (throttle wizard)

If i were you i will do it before you set up, Cause, just today i was redoing my end points and ran into some trouble. you will find that you won't be able to adjust your high side of the travel. what i had to do was, go into the gov/throttle wizard and do that again fo it to work, don't know if this was the the correct procedure , but it worked for me. so yes , do your end points first.

Thanks for inputs.

Just to confirm. I should do the ESC end points after the tail wizard but before the throttle/gov wizard.

End points are initially set in the first wizard after the satellite binding. So there is no way to set the ESC end points before it bound to the satellites

I have Castles on all of my Skookum equipped helis, and its very simple.

1)Go through the SK wizards FIRST and set the high and low throttle per the SK software request with 100% throttle end points in your TX. The Skookum may not pass full throttle signal range through in order for you to calibrate the ESC unless to you set the SK end points up first. Its even possible that you may need to do this using 150% end points in your TX to get the Skookum to pass full signal through. You will know this if you try and calibrate the ESC but never get the endpoint beeps no matter how low or high you go.

2)Follow the Castle ESC endpoint setting procedure whenever you are ready and then your end point values will be changed in the TX according to what the Castle detects.

3)Plug back in and re-set the high and low throttle in the SK software again. You will notice that the SK throttle software live data will not show 0 and 100% when you move the throttle up and down anymore because you have changed the end points during the ESC calibration, but this will change to 0 for low and 100% for high throttle after you set the endpoints in the SK software the final time

4) Go fly!

Great post, that is how I have done mine in the past and it has worked a treat.

In 3.40 there was a change that allowed the Skookum to pass negative throttle values. So the previous method of setting the Tx to 150% isn't required, at least for the low end. I tested the upper on end as well. But my Castle's upper endpoint wasn't above 100% so I was unable to verify if both ends are allowed to exceed 100%.

Both of my current helis throttle endpoints on the handset are at 120% for upper end and 95-97% for the lower after ESC calibration. Good to know about the negative values passing through now.

Thanks Ill give it go tonight after work.

Then maiden the new E7 on the weekend, Thanks for the help.

One last question in the Throttle Wizard - to Set the Max Throttle , do you click up to Idle 2 and put the throttle stick to 100, then click "set max throttle". In the skookum setup video he leaves it at 0.

You want to make sure you are in a flight mode using a linear throttle curve of 0,25,50,75,100 and you set idle at low stick and max throttle at high stick.

Once I finish my ESC cal, I do the Skookum part again and use throttle hold for the idle setting.
