Default stock ESP servos

You do not mention the stock align servos that come with the ESP kit. Any good???

Great write up by the way, will probably get me a 500 sooner than I had thought!!!

Thomas

servos are great but no metal gears for it to date 10-13-09

i have the 450 and had it a long time and got the 500 esp about 2 months ago now..... wish i had got the 500 from the start! awesome! i dont know if i will fly the 450 or not. 450 is fine but hard to see farther than across the street. the 500 ... well its double the size. so i can see it till the next street. haha. you will love it much more but it does cost just a little bit more but way better performance from 450 to 500 vs 500 to 600. buy it you wont regret it unless you cant afford it then you shouldnt fly it any way.

Yes! Get 35c, on 6s it is vital. Im going for the 1708/1,5y on 8s, will use 35c on that.

Will the 1708/1.5Y be fast enough?? With a kv of 850 it is pretty low!

I reckon you would need a 19 or 20 tooth pinion, do they even make them that big?

The 1708/1Y might be a bit more suitable with a kv of 1275, then use either a 13 or 14 tooth pinion.

Just a thought!!

edit:
I am not sure if you would need 35C batteries on a 8S setup.
end edit:

I got that the 1,5y was for 8s use, I fully agree with you.
Where did you get the specs? Never mind, found it on the CC page, it was not on the Neu page

I did some tests with my insane 1915/1,5y with 25c and 35c, and got no difference in performance, 6100watts on punchouts with both packs.

With my 500 I measured about 1800 watts with 20c, and broke my belt on a punchout reaching 2255watts with 30c, it snapped in the middle of the max power. The 30c gets only lukewarm after hard flights, so probably it is enough. Just bought the new turnigy 35c packs, but they have not arrived yet.
Would anyway go 35c in the future, just to be safe.
I just put a mini vbar on my 500, WOW WOW WOW
The speed, the power OMG and 1 min more fun

It will be interesting to see how the 1708 goes, I have a Neu 1508H/1.5Y but the main shaft broke on it after about 20 flights.

I have a Medusa 36x50x1300V2 in the 500 ATM but would always be keen to try somethign better out. As it is, the heavy Medusa still gives better power then the 1508 ever did. If the 1708 can handle the 8S packs then I may have to give it a go.

I want to buy a new motor for my 500, and i am looking for Scorpion 1400 or 1600, NEU motors or Hacker. What is better and what model particularly?

And one more question, what ESC is better,
Phoenix ICE Lite 75SB, Phoenix ICE Lite 100SB or another one?

Thanks a lot.

I can't really say what is "best," as that depends a lot on your flying style, but I have been really happy with the Neu 1706H/1.5Y and the CC45HV on 6S. I used a Scorpion 1400 for a while, and while it had a ton of power, it was really hard on batteries and the 45HV wasn't really enough. The Neu 1706 has nearly as much power, but draws considerably less current, and now the motor/batteries/ESC barely get warm. The Neu is an in-runner, so you don't need to worry about keeping things clear of the motor case, and it has monster bearings so you won't have to worry about servicing/replacing bearings frequently.

Hope this helps.

Hi Helipsyko,

I am thinking of a T500 ship on 8s too... will need your expert comment/view to help me out..

Rhino 4s1750 25c x 2 in series ( used pack migrating from 450 )
Turnigy 4s 1800 40c x 2 in series ( going to purchase )
Scorpion Hk3026 -880KV (going to purchase )
CC ICE50 ( going to purchase-used )

PS: what capacity of pack are you on?

8s is very funny
The Scorp motor is good, but you will need a very large pinion with only 880kv, like 19 or 20t. Check if that excists. I would go for 1210 or 1000 kv, or test the Neu 1708/1y, more expensive, but high end, could be more efficient.

50A esc is good, im running 45hv with no heat or problems.

As mentioned I did not noitice any difference between 30c and 35c, that is Turnigy 2200mah packs.

2200mah give me 4.5 min of fun with 2750hs, 5,5min with fbl, would not buy 1800mah packs. The 35c Turnigy packs weighs 510g in pair, you will not have a weight problem, the power is insane.

Good luck

Ok, no must for 3d, to have fun is the important part here.
I have used these packs on 4s 450 and 8s 500, they have the same weight as the 1800 40c, but with 2500hs 20c is fine.

A very interesting bird
I have had a few start up problems, crashing and so on.... so I have not gotten used to it yet, but when we talk about power, OMG.

It sounds like a jet turbine, and the hs is totally constant, and that makes it a bit hard to fly at the moment, I need to find a good combo of hs, Vbar, pitch, blades, and I have flown mostly 500 and 650 lately, a 450 is small.....
It is -10c outside, so the tweeking is going slow.
