Default GT5 double tap issue

I have mounted the GT5 and installed a 4.8 volt battery into "imp2" to adjust some functions without damaging my servos (no servos plugged in). I can get into the main menu (sliding the cursor up to top for 3 seconds) and can slide to various menus, but that is as far as I can get 99% of the time. Double clicking to get in to any of the next menus does not work. I can tap 7, 8 or 10 times to get to the next step but then can't move to the next step to make changes.

I have been able to select between nitro and electic successfully, selected DSM2 and that's about it. Anything requiring going through three trap doors or more won't work.

In some cases where a double tap is required, I have had to tap 6-10 times to enter a program. Needless to say, this is very frustrating as I've spent half of my day off just to get to this point.

I can't imagine that there is some secret to perform a double tap. Do I have a bad unit out of the box?

Try tapping it gently! There is a bit of a trick to it but you will get used to it pretty quickly!

I watched the TT youtube videos and felt I was tapping correctly. Going back and trying a gentle tap, it works. I must admit my taps may have turned into thumps after spending a couple of hours and not getting very far.
