Default Tail gears life span

I have about 50 flights on my NX4 and the torque gears, front vertical and the tail hub ones, are starting to be eaten up.

The mesh is good. I rock this heli pretty hard but I am surprised gears are not more resistant.

Any possible upgrade to better gears or just replace with stock parts and move on?

I used to burn the teeth off my align heli's. But my nx4 holds up great,
Although I'm only running the 2500 head speed.
My gears show wear, but they don't look like they need replaced.

I beat it up as good as 2500 can get me., don't remember reading anything about the gears being weak,

I am running 2700hs. Gears are still flyable but they definitely wear faster than on my Trex for me...i do have a not-so-soft soft start because of how the Ikon works with 0 throttle calibration. This may participate to the gear wear too...

Well, I hope I don't have to disassemble the whole heli to replace them.

I am running an OS 37 in my NX4 and my idle is above 10% throttle so I have limitations with the Ikon spoolup. You can see post 3 of this thread:

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=589078

It may help you when you setup your NX4 as you may face the same issue.

You probably have an idle below 10% on your 700n so you can get a correct spoolup with the Ikon.

You will definitely love the NX4. It requires quite some tweaking and has issues but is a blast to fly!

My idle speed on the NX4 hovers between 13-16% on my DX8. My normal mode throttle curve is 16-30-30-30-30, and I have zero issues with the soft start. Perhaps you may have luck with a reset on the Ikon and a re-calibration of the throttle servo?

There is a workaround indeed (cheating on the low endpoint of the carb in the software) but I don't like it as I mentioned in the thread I am referring to because it messes up the carb geometry hence the performance of the gov.

Overall it works but could be improved just by the software accepting negative throttle value and an idle position setup like many other FBL units. This would also sort the related potential safety issue with unexpected spoolup I mentioned too if you are not careful as well as the engine not cutting off but staying in idle when failsafe is activated. I wish they can add this simple feature in the next firmware update...
