I am just wondering. Have you tried to detect vibrations comming from the faulty rotor shaft using the vBar spectrum analyser? Will vBar help to detect this?

Dumb question. Why did this issue only hit the dfc and not all 700e??

The higher tail ratio with the DFC kit vs only those people that upgraded their v2. It's also possible the changes to the frame components respond slightly different to the various vibration components in the heli thereby stimulating the tail defect that was there all along.

Ok need to stop the tail defect statements, the tail has been fine for many years now and only a very limited number of people world wide on the DFC kits and nitro where see this problem, but as always Align listens and makes sure that they have the correct solution for the updates.\

Thanks Dino

I'm going to call an apple an apple. A defect can exist regardless of the number of failures observed or even if no observed failures exist at all. The tail was defective. Align fixed it. Lawyers and company representatives can choose whatever words work best for them.

Hats off to Align for delivering a fix, very quickly. My new parts are on the way, and I started my build last night. Thank you Dino for your efforts. I'm impressed with how quickly we went from a discussion of potential causes, to new parts in hand. I doubt any other brand could have done better, Align bashers take notice.

1.Do you need the main drive gear like posted on the previous page?
2.If you order a kit right now what is your best option,to just ask to get it replaced by the place you buy it or contact Align directly?

Thanks

I did. I have the helical auto gear kits w/4.73 ratio, and V2 tails. Ran them with 700 boom at 1900-1950 for 6 weeks before switching to 800 - and the rear end is the same. Are you saying that I was lucky? And should I be more than casually alert for this symptom on 800 stretch?

I'm not panicking, nor do I care what we call "it," but I would like as much info as possible.

Thanks!

No, I'm not saying that at all. I've been running the helical auto on my v2 since they came out. I run governed at 2050 and never had the vibe. Other than the higher tail speed and the frame changes, there isn't anything else different so I was just pointing out the obvious. Dino said the problem was rare and I certainly don't have any reason not to believe that.

I did a swap out of my tail to a complete new V2 assembly. Even with the factory washer between the radial and thrust bearing, I still had play, so I added a .1mm shim to the stack. I got a PM from Dino indicating that there should be some play in the grips, but then he indicated on another thread that the new fix with the new hub removes all in and out play on the grips. I asked about this on the other thread and he confirmed that's the way the new setup should be.

I did get my LHS to order the new fix, as I am also running the helical autorotation gear. I am running Rail 106s on the tail, and haven't heard or seen any particular problems but I just want to be proactive and head off any potential problems.

Received my parts today but.... The tail bevel gear is 12.05mm and the case bearing is 11.99mm.

Wont go in hole? Anyone else. I'm going to try and freeze the gear and warm the housing to see if i can make up the difference?
