Default NTM Rotor Drive 450 1700kv or Turnigy HeliDrive SK3 2839 1700kv

Hi folks,
Maybe a nob question, but I cannot decide which of those motors to buy for a 6s 450 heli (Gaui X3, ESC YEP 40A).

I know, there are motors and ESCs of higher quality (and price), but I do not want to discuss this.

Those motors are nearly "identical" to me:

Price is nearly identical and very cheap (18 bucks).
Reviews are very, very good for both motors / types (not only on HK-website, but also in forums).
Specifications are very similar:

NTM Rotor Drive Series 2938 1700kv - Turnigy HeliDrive SK3 Competition Series - 2839-1700kv
Turns: ? - 10
rpm/v:
1700 kV - 1700 kV
Poles: 3 - 6
Max Cont. Current: 30 A - Max Loading: 26 A
Burst Current (5 sec): 42 A - ?
Max power: 930 W @ 22.2V - Max Power: 550 W

Internal resistance: ? - 0.065 Ohm
Shaft: 3.5 mm - 3.175 mm
Weight: 96 g - 79 g
Connection: 3.5 mm Bullet connector

I am not a pro, so maybe I do not see any important differences (Power - Watts, big difference, but both motors are said to be very strong??? Shaft diameter? Weight? Poles? ...)
Any suggestions for or against one of those?

THX,

Walter

Just offhand I think a 6 pole motor would be much smoother than a 3 pole motor. And you might want to ask someone who owns one of those 3 pole NTM motors, that sounds suspiciously low for a heli motor.

Guess, this is a mistake on HK website, according to this thread the NTM Rotor Drive should have 6 poles:

So - why chose this NTM or that Turnigy motor?

I strongly suspect its the same motor, they look almost identical except for the colors. Just one rebranded with the turnigy logo.

I've seen similar examples on hobbykings website. For example the Mystery 12 amp esc and the Turnigy 12 amp esc.

I had bad luck with the RotoDrive 6S. On the second flight is started smoking like a nitro and I had to auto down. I will pick up a 460MX 1700KV on a labor day sale.

Rotordrive 1700Kv is doing great on my X3 so far only running 4s right now because I don't have any 6s yet but I will soon.

The NTM is more powerful than both those motors based on the stated power and user reviews. Definetly the best motor for the money of the HObby king motors IMO

hm?

The NTM Rotor Drive is one of those motors the thread is about isn't it? Not trying to be rude here but I don't get the wording of that post? Are you trying to say that the NTM Rotor Drive 1700 is the most powerful out of the two that the thread is about? (the ones in the title) Sorry

Sorry,

when you said rotordrive I kept thinking of this:

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...ize_heli_.html

instead of the NTM. I guess thats rotorstar. Too many motors from HK!

Ok got ya. yes they have many

Yeah it seems powerful so far.... can't wait to try 6s if the 930W rating holds true I may just stick with it for the longer flights I am gonna put my watt meter on it and find out how much it's really drawing.
