Default Holy Crap These Get Expensive

For what my mCP X costs, I could have gotten another 450. Anyway, as soon as my Astroid order comes I'll have a great mCP X. Can't wait to fly the following:
Spin 16300KV
XP-7A
AEO Converter
Hyperion 550s with Micro Deans
120 SR tail with Plantraco prop
Xtreme CF Frame
Xtreme CF skids
Xtreme grips and hub
Xtreme Canopy
MicroHeli swash
Pink KBDDs
RDLohr 3 in 1 Mount

This thing should be a beast. I'll post pics once it's complete (hopefully tomorrow).

No S$&t! I have over $220 into my Spin conversion and I don't have any of that fancy CF frame BS. I can solder it up for you if you want.

16.3 is a great motor. I had fun with it. Sold it to a buddy and converted his mcp x to BL and flashed his ESC with sskaug's BLHeli. Governor works awesome on the high KV motors. You should look into it after its built.

Default Hey

Crash a 450 then your expensive Mcpx and see which one is expensive. I have a Microheli Mcpx with every upgrade they make. Just ordered a brushless setup. Crash with no worries and fly it like a sim

+1 you should have sent me your XP-7A to be flashed rather than buying an AEO converter. The Spin 16K is pretty nice governed on an 8 tooth with the Hyperion 550's

P.S I have $1100 in my 450....your not quite there yet

I already had the converter. All I did was swap out my C05 and tail assembly once my mount arrives.

I, for one, really do not care about the cost ratio to a 450, etc. The amount of real flight training that I receive due to having a bird that flies like a 450 but cost way less to repair is astounding. Within a week I went from doing basic loops to doing stable invert hovers with blade scrapes! Now I'm popping all over the place with barley any crashes and looking for more power (governed xp7[12] + spin16.3???) ... which I really don't need but am addicted... help? Wont get that here I guess.

I'll tell you what though... After flying this bird around for a while, I was way more confident when I took my 450 up. The mcpx (bl) is THE real life sim.

I'm new to this flashing business (with the mcpx anyways) and am curious if it makes the converter obsolete? I have the Spin 16k modded to the tooth with the 8t pinion and would consider the governor if I would benefit from it. Thoughts?

P.S. My highly modded Spin conversion is sitting on the shelf until its warm enough to crash in the grass and not on the gym floor-I'm almost too scared to fly/crash it. HP05 for now...

Flashing with BLheli code on the main gets you:

No converter needed
TX programmable with no tricks or soldering
Governor on the main, RPM set by adjusting your flat throttle curve, 100% throttle disables the Gov and runs it flat out.
Slow start
A Gov Arm mode~ lets you set the target RPM when arming the esc, and then allows you to run a V throttle curve to take advantage of the 3n1 boards built in main/tail mix (sort of like tail pre-compensation on the V-bar)

With the TX you can adjust:

Gov P gain (5 values)
Gov I gain (5 values)
Gov type ( TX, Arm or Off)
LVC (2.7, 3.0, 3.3 volts)
Start power (5 values)
PWM frequency (low or high)
Rotation direction
Input polarity

It automatically senses the input frequency, so it works with V1 and V2 and Walkera heli's, and the MSRx, MQx Etc.

Soon might have software for USB programming......

The code is SSkaug's brainchild, he has put a lot of work into it! https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=390517

Also supports 2S and 3S if the ESC is designed for it.

And you can flash an ESC for a brushless tail.

The Spin 16K is much more fun when it doesn't bog, 6000+ RPM for the whole flight, rather than 7500+ bogging with collective and slowly settling down with battery voltage.

Much less trouble balancing for 6000-6500 RPM.

Sorry to hijack your thread, although it is mostly on-topic as the BLheli code saves you buying a converter!

I have everything I need to start flashing ESC's except for the most important part, my computer.
