No reason other than I tried gov off first then airplane to see if there was a difference, I didn't notice any.

v3
I have the x5 with v3 and the built in bec is great with ds615 on cyclic. No problems yet. Gonna try 8717 on the cyclic next at a higher voltage.

My X5 Premium Edition came with the upgraded Platinum Pro V3 100A and SI-4501 and SI-2201 servos. I'm wondering whether the BEC can run these beasts at 8.4V. I messaged the manufacturer and Gaui, because I can't find any max current draw specs on these servos. I want to run the one BEC wire to the VBar's RX B along with throttle signal, and the other to the TM1000 unit, where I'll split the RPM signal wire to plug into TM1000 and VBar's top RX A pin, and then use the remaining two power wires for TM1000. Both HW V3 BEC and WR Super Mini G2 have 10A continuous (G2 runs at 8.2V max, however), but the burst mode is higher on the HW V3 BEC, plus it gets adequate cooling with the fan. So I'm thinking of selling my brand new G2. Last edited by prokyon; 12-28-2014 at 11:09 AM.. Reason: pointless question |

You can set the ESC SO THE GOVERNOR IS OFF. I have mine off in my HW ESC so my Vbar can govern.

Looking towards getting my scorpion BUG to give me the cushion if something (electric) were to go wrong, don't feel the need to get an external bec with the built in 10a continuous. I'm curious to know how cool it will run in my fuselage but I really like the optional fan that's mounted on top

I don't think the fan will fit in the X5 if you mount the ESC in the Heli.

Cool, I have had no problems with the HW ESC.
Happy flying!

Ill just fix it with gyro tape. No way it will move inside.
How will you power the went? Can you get 5V from programing port on ESC?

Maybe a dumb question, but what do you need the LCD programming box for if you can set all options via transmitter? I know the whole throttle stick/listen for beeps thing is kludgy but it seems you aren't changing things often? Or are there more options configurable when connecting it to a PC via the program box?

HW v3 wiring?
Where did you guys put the wires?
So far in the build I put my platinum v3 flat on the forward space where it fit ok but without much space around.

Where to connect the BEC output (if at all)?
Hope you excuse another beginner question - just to make sure (don't want to fry by vbar ):
Correct like this? - VBar Rx B port: Throttle cable from ESC (the one with all 3 wires) - VBar Rx C port: S.Bus - Receiver: S.Bus ...at the moment I havent got the BEC cable (the one with only 2 wires) connected anywhere and it seems to work fine...? Do I need to connect the BEC cable? If so, where?...adding a Y-cable for BEC to Rx C? Btw, I'm using only the ESC Gov, not VBar internal.

Rebel,
Teh only way to fry a vbar is to connect a wire to RX A. That is the only part "special" part of the vbar. Are you using spectrum satellites or futaba? Or standard receiver? |

Ok thanks
I use Futaba S.Bus receiver. Figure I should connect the BEC output to a free port on the receiver and the throttle lead to the RX B on the VBar then? That way I'd have power through throttle AND via s.bus over the receiver...
