Default Help push me off the fence! (G500 vs G570)

Guys,

I have a perfectly fine Goblin 500 that I absolutely love, but late at night I find myself being a little unfaithful to my trusted G500 by continuing to look through the for sale forum for a Goblin 570. And it doesn't help that I could get a new one for 25% off for the next few weeks!! Add to that the fact that I just heard about the Goblin 380 and will definitely be picking one of those up as soon as they're available and it seems like the combination of a 380 and 570 makes more sense than a 380 and a 500...

So, help me out here. Should I just continue to be happy with my 500 or is it worth the added expense of converting over to the 570? I do mostly sport / light 3D as I'm only a year into flying helis. Also, if taking the hit to switch to the 570, the next obvious question is... 12s or 6s...

So, there you have it. I'm just asking for a little help to either push me off the fence onto the 570 side or pull me back over to the 500 side.

Thanks!

Why not just a "refresh" of your G500 by adding the Lynx stretch kit? It might make it different enough to make you think you've got a new heli without the expense.

Agreed with above although i do like that 570, its just something about it. I have the stretch kit on mines running rail 556mm blades and it is definitely a different bird than the 500

Anytime you stretch an airframe you decrease your disk loading quite a bit as it is an exponential function of weight to disk area. With that being said, the G570 can be stretched to 620 and I'm sure it feels like a whole new heli as well. I think it depends on your flying area and style. Plus a stretched 570 will do better on 12s so you need a more robust charging setup.

All great suggestions you guys. Thanks!

I was looking seriously into picking up the Lynx stretch kit up UNTIL the 570 came out.

Really does make a lot more sense to stretch the 500 though. And with the savings I can pick up that Goblin 380 the second it hits the shelves...

DJ, did you change your gearing at all when you stretched your 500? I see you're running Rail 556 mains. How about the tail blades. Any changes there?

Thanks guys!

No I had stock gearing running 1900 2500 and 2800 hs when I wanted to haul ass. And my tails were rail as well 80.6 I belive. I had the cc edge100 and the goblin edition quantum motor as well as lynx main gear to be safe

Great. I just ordered up:

1 x SYN-RB556-1 Synergy Rail R-556 Flybarless Main Blade Set
1 x LYX0884 Lynx Heli Goblin 500/550 Stretch Tail Kit (Silver)
1 x SYN-RB0806 Synergy Rail R-80.6 Tail Blade Set
1 x LYX1084 Lynx Heli Goblin 500 Stretch Tail Belt

I'm running a Talon 90 which worries me a little swinging these 556 blades but I've seen some others doing the same with no problems. I like to keep it a little slower (1800, 2000, 2200) so I'll take some pitch out of the collective and keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks again for the push (or would that be pull?) :-)

Thanks! I appreciate the help.

As far as the tail belt goes, I think they stopped shipping the kit with the belt. I actually chatted online with the sales rep at amain with the same question before I ordered and they actually went and pulled the stretch kit to verify. No belt in any of the new stock kits.

If you get a 570 go 12s. The reason being is it is not much more money. 1 5000mah pulse = $140. 2 3000mah pulse = 170. So for 30 more bucks per set of packs you get less bog and more efficiency.

I see. Make sure it comes with the lynx dampeners. They are stiffer than stock so the longer blades can't flex as much and risk boom strike

Good point on the batteries. I was always assuming 12s would be 2x the cost because of the batteries. I didn't stop to think about the different in the MAH cost.

Thanks for the tip.

Yea. Pretty sure the dampeners are in there. I'll verify once I get my order in a couple days (I hope).

I haven't flown mine yet but for what is worth. When I was at IRCHA I asked Goblin owners there what their favorite G was to fly. Almost all said things were close but the 570. A good combo between size, speed (12S) and disk load.

I went 570 and doing the 600 stretch for all the great things people had to as about cost vrs flying characteristics.

I hope everything lives up to the hype.

Yea. I am still keeping my eyes out for a great deal on a used 570, but I'll fly the stretch 500 for a while and see if that can keep me from throwing more money at yet another heli.

I've been watching your 570 build thread for a while by the way. It's not helping me stay content with my G500...
