New Landing Gear
I built some carbon landing gear for my 300. It is a bit fat at 24 grams and very stout. I will make another set and leave out a couple of plies, 3 layers of graphite instead of 5 this time. It should still be strong enough and get closer to the 13 grams of the stock landing gear.

I built another set that came in at 12 grams using 3 plies of graphite. They seem a bit fragile, but if they break I'll make more. Here is how they were built.
I made a simple mold out of melamine. Bagged 3 plies of graphite with West System. Bolted the lay up to a router pattern and using a flush router bit cut out the landing gear. Sanded the edges and they were done. |

Carbon / graphite
Hey that looks excellent!!
I'll post pocs of mine I did adding stainless to the stock landing gear. Where could I get some of the raw materials to make some sets like that? Is it somewhat affordable? |
