Default main gear mood

I go thru mains gears on my wild set up like diapers at a daycare. Is there a tougher main gear?

I'm thinking about grinding down the gear base and glueing two gears together. Anyone tried this?

How's your gear mesh? I have a double BL setup used same gear for a year now!

Lynx have bought a new one out that looks good. I got one but haven't installed it as yet so can't really say about it. Looks n feels solid! Bit heavy! Over a gram more!

Two gears together is a good idea, and IIRC still lighter than the lynx. Maybe cut the inner splines and hub off a donor and CA what's left to another one unless you are having issues with the hub stripping out (never seen that personally). Realize tho, if you crash under power something is still going to fail and it might be more problematic than a mg. Like your motor shaft for example which is a total PIA to replace.

Obvious guy says the best solution is to be quicker with the TH, esp inverted. I know, I know; easier said than done but this is critical for your mg and ms. With how well the nano crashes while not under power there is little to no penalty for being a little trigger happy with it. Not so obvious, make sure your main motor has NO play in the bearings or where it mounts to the frame. Mine developed some at the frame and it was a lot harder on the mg on account of that play.

Good luck and keep those round main gears under your pillow at night, they are worth their weight in gold!

I bought the Lynx gear after having lots of trouble finding a decently round stock gear. It sure does run nice woth the wild motor, and so far no stripped gear when crshing.

It does weigh 4x the stock gear because of the silly aluminum and steel screws.

I got a bunch of warranty replacements from Blade and only one of the four was usable so I'm sticking with the Lynx gear for now. I'd try some of the AEO ones if anyone had them in stock.

The Lynx gear is quite nice. I was having troubles finding a main gear that didn't bind somewhere in its rotation, causing a bad tail wag.

Now after 50 flights or so the Lynx gear is still running smooth, and is getting quieter with time. With the non-adjustable gear mesh of a brushless stock frame I would recommend the Lynx gear as it made my heli flyable when the stock gears I could get were all egg shaped.

The only problem is it weighs 4x stock gear (Lynx: 1.1g Stock: ~0.3g) because of the silly bling of he aluminum hub, which then necessitates three steel screws.
