I bet it'll work as perfect as Quark and DS760's works.

I wonder how many Spartan Gyro fans will take the jump to FBL for the first time with the Vortex. The DS760 and Quark are so good I can't imagine the Vortex being even the slightest disappointment. This new generation of sensors will be interesting take for a spin for sure.

I think it will probably be great as well, but everyone thinking that it will be perfect because the previous gyros were good are falling into a trap. Futaba has never made a gyro that wasn't amazing and there are plenty who do not like how the 750 flies (and even more before the first update). The SJGD gyros flew great, their FBL is trash, Youngblood's SOlid G and Mini G were amazing, many have had horrible luck with the Total G.

Good tail gyros do not equal a good FBL unit. There is a lot more to the software in the FBL world.

But I would be more inclined to trust Spartan than any of the rest. They have a stunning track record for producing great products and responding to their customers.

If I had to voice one issue that I have ever had with Spartan it would be that it has taken them so long to finally produce a FBL unit. I am currently down to two helis, both functioning very well on MicroBeasts. One of those, if it ain't broke don't fix it type scenerios. Until I have a need to get another FBL unit, I can't justify the switch. But as soon as that need arises, and the reviews are good, you can bet I will jump on board.

But again, I really really really would like to hear about some testing of the governor on a gasser. Gassers are different and to know that it had been tested and successfully worked would really go a long way in my book.

the new fBL unit will be up there but it would be hard to to top the Mikado Vbar

Vbar has been in the gane for quite a while and has allot of R & D behind it,

I have every faith it will rock out of the box, but I'm sure there will be points to improve with updates...

It has had a long development time however, so you can be sure it won't have been rushed out the door.

I wonder if the gear ratio can be adjusted on this new unit? I would like to use the governor on my gasser.

Not sure if I have ever seen a gov that didn't let you adjust the gear ratio.

That doesn't have an RPM display so why would it need to know the gear ratio ?

It doesn't. Just a response to your statement. If you wish to change it that's fine...but as it stands...this is a governor that doesn't allow you to change the ratio...regardless of merit.

Just showing an example of a governor that doesn't allow you to choose the gear ratio. Also doesn't allow you to fine tune the gains either. And it doesn't work on a gasser. Very limited governor.

There are others out there that are also more advanced but don't work with gassers.

Since this, and others, do not work with gassers I have to be sceptical about whether the Vortex will work with gassers. I hear and see good intentions, but until there is testing and proof, I reserve the right to be sceptical and would really like to see some testing and results from Spartan on it. I suppose it can be left up to the end users to find out...but that's a sucky way of doing product testing.

It doesn't have a gear ratio, therefore it doesn't invalidate my statement. All of which is really unimportant, no gov ever needs to know the gear ratio. The gov controls the engine/motor RPM, what that translates into in terms of HS is of only interest to us humans.

Not sure what that's all about...so back to the topic...How about some information on how well this system will work on gassers? Myself and others honestly, really, genuinly want to know. I will very much be intersted in this system and will only be puting it on a gasser which is why I keep asking. With all the new gassers coming out, this will certainly be a very good thing to know.

"All the new gassers"

What new gassers? Whiplash-G is still vaporware.

Good to see you have been working on this since 2009

Mikado Vbar has been in production since 2006 and they have produced at least 9 versions thats is why their system works so well.

Im sure yours will be great too and I hope its better than vbar but im a little sceptical

Im happy if you prove me wrong

I would like to add a special governor mode for gassers but very likely it won't be in the first release. It will come at a later firmware update.

Hopefully the Vortex vx1 comes out before hobbyking bring out their own Turnigy flybarless unit.

God help Spartan if it takes that long.
