Default Can Devo 6 be used with any brand of RC?

I was just curious if the Devo 6 transmitter can be used with any R/C or is it specifically for Walkera helis?

But you could put a Walkera/devo receiver in a heli and use it with DEVO right?

Yuppie just pick of a walkera Rx that works with your DEVO and put it in any heli u want to and it will be fine.. but if plane on using the DEVO on anything bigger then a 450 I would just pick up a well know brand like Futaba, JR/ Spectrum, hi-tech

Hmm, that's what I was afraid of, I just ordered the Genius Cp for my first R/C helicopter, even though everyone says to get a coaxial first n learn then move up n people probably think I'm crazy for getting this, but I believe I'm competent enough to learn fast. Thanks for your quick replies, are walkera Rx's cheap & easy to swap out in other non-Walkera heli's?

Don't know about the swap, but while you are waiting you need some education.

Start downloading these videos. That should keep you busy until the package arrives. Good luck. That G Cp is going to be a handful.

One issue with the Devo 6 is that it is supposed to be designed for park flying. So that even though it the same power output as the Devo 8, its range is reported to be shorter. AliShanMao quoted a range of 800m for the Devo 6 vs 2000m for the Devo 8. However, a range of 800m is more than enough even for large helicopters.

I know one thing about range with the Devo6. I can fly it until I can't see well enough to fly it. That's enough range for me.

I think 800m is more than the early Spektrum radios. 2000m is really an overkill for helicopters. Walkera is aiming for the plane flyer's market.

I haven't flown fixed wing but I'm thinking that you'd need a bunch more range. Yesterday I was flying with the low sun in sky. Lost it in the sun, when I got sight of the heli again it was flying backwards. I had no idea. Wouldn't have that problem with a plane.

I would say 800m is enough for almost all fixed wing. It is the thermal soarers that really require a huge range.

Get a 400/450 100 meters away and it looks like a spec. Unless you are flying a 700 at extreme visual range I can't imagine any problems. I've flown a cheap Nine eagles 328a out to as far as I could see (it looked a little bigger than a fly) and the cheap tx was working fine. Walkera is much better than that. My wk-2801pro never runs out range. I'd imagine they made improvements on that for the devo desigins.

Default More with a firmware upgrade.

Just stumbled on this, so I thought I'd update the info (the internet never forgets, even when the info is no longer correct):

The devo 7 (and 8/10/12 & 7e) can be updated with firmware from deviationTx.com to fly DSM? and Nine Eagles JPro6 protocols as well as the full suite of Walkera protocols.

Yeah, I expect most people know this, but maybe not if a search turns this up and they think it's interesting.
