Heli change
Hi all it's been a while since I've posted on Helifreak been busy with other stuff like work.
Been flying Align since I started but after seeing some of the videos of Kyle and Jamie flying I bit the bullet the other day and bought the 600 SE. I bought the Kontronik package with the Pyro 700 52. The other had the 700 45. whats the difference. Is the latter better if you want to go 12s. Have not flown for over a year and am new to FBL is the set up complicated. Cheers. |

The 520kv set-up is most appropriate for 10S, and the 450kv for 12S. Note the Logo 600 series was designed for 10S set-ups, and the gearing is targeted for that...but guys use 12S as well. Both work.
You mentioned Kyle and Jaime. Both of the boys use 10S set-ups in their Logo 600 machines, and performance is not a issue Also note that there are guys who swear 12S is a more powerful set-up. That's probably true "by the numbers", and I won't dispute that. But in the practical real world, not too much difference. Pick your poison FBL? The software in the VBar leads you set-by-step through the set-up. Just go with the default values to start, and the heli will fly nice and predictable. You can make changes then later as you go. Lots of help on-line as well. Welcome to the world of Mikado. (-: Dave |

As mentionned by Dahld, you will still have plenty of flight power using 10S even on a big L600SE with 690mm blades.
Also, I would suggest lipo packs with 35C or more if you fly hard. Good thing is that 5S batteries are cheaper than 6S and there is not so much difference on overall power. On one hand there will be less current drain on a 12S power system (which is good for the batteries), but on the other hand, there will be more weight stress on the heli rotor, and as you know, the Logo 600/SE was originally designed for 10S. Pack weight is kind of a moot point, if you use 12S packs they should have lower capacity than a 10S pack you would use. For example, most run either 12S 4000mAh or 10S 4500mAh, so they weight is pretty similar regardless of your actual cell count.
