I like this kind of customer support! Experience and HD deserve pats on the back for helping out their customers so quickly. THAT is real customer support folks.. Marketing aside of course.

Hi,

you can contact me directly here or by PM or email.
For 2nd Hand purchases, in general your "seller" should warn you that he received a replacement unit, if not ( it can happen for various reasons), we provide replacement units case by case, after i investigate a litte ( as we left the "old" units to the owners when replacing with a new one, not easy to know realy lol).

But one sure thing, just pop me a message in case of any issue and we will work it out.

We will try in end of year to create a customer registration database so people can register their products just like at Horizon hobby with serial numbers and others, this database will be kept totally private and in no case will be " sold" to any commercial web thing.

Also, it will be possible to " transfer" the ownership and keep the original warranty.

Some people asked us if we could make a " Gryphon Care" ( lol ) plan, and a reduced cost replacement in case of accidental break ( crash or other), we might think about it but this will take some time.

Best regards,

Fabien

Is it possible that the older recalled units are still being sold? I bought one 3 weeks ago from Helidirect, and installed it last night. This morning I came across this thread. I have an Agena, and the unit and bag both have GSR-5045 listed as the part number, NOT GSR-5045LMT. I see that Gryphon-mall.kr lists the LMT part number.

Should I not use this? I was going out to maiden the heli this morning, but I'm going to scrap those plans now that it looks like my BEC is not safe to use.

Default GRYPHON QUASAR and AGENA - IMPORTANT

Good luck. I also got a recalled one from Helidirect in mid 2012 after the recall and they said it was impossible that I got a recalled unit from them and wouldn't replace it. Gryphon said they would but after hounding them for 8 months and getting nothing I finally gave up. Live and learn, should have gotten another WR instead of a Gryphon. Mine is still sitting in the original packaging never used in my junk box. Exactly where it belongs.

You can see my post above. I NEVER received a replacement.

Same with me -- I never received a replacement after they said they would send one... Twice.

Lesson learned. If you care about your stuff then stick with proven products.

I'll never buy a thing from this company again.

It may still be a problem for you.. Take yours apart and double check. They kept shipping ones they knew were trash even after the recall.

Personally I wouldn't trust anything with the Gryphon/Agena name on it.

Get a better/proven brand of BEC.

I had 2 of the original ones. I just sent them back home to Gryphon and they sent me back the updated ones. They shipped them EMS and I got them back within a week.

http://www.gryphon-mall.com/product.php?id_product=59

Both unit are used to power HC3-SX equipped heli's and they have been working great for almost 2 years now. A lot of local guys are using these, no problems.

Cheers,
TomC

I just saw the date. The three years in business should of given it away. All my Gryphon products are 2013 era. Never had a problem with any of them.

It seems my Quasar just died yesterday, after about 3 years of use on 16S.
I did not know there is a recall for it.
I tried to send an email to Gryphon and Fabien, so will see if something happens...

Best of luck. Here we are a year later. I still contact them occasionally, still haven't received my warranty replacement. It's still new in the package.

You know that you need to send the old one(s) back to them before they will send you a replacement?

Cheers,
TomC

From the post from Gryphon that started this thread:

Quote:
There is NO need to ship back the old unit. At Gryphon, we do not refurbish our product. We repair them when it's a small repair requested by the customer, but we do not refurbish any unit. This is a mistake on our side ( we could not test ALL available combination of hardware and batteries ) so we will be shipping brand new units.

And from Fabien in a pm from Sep 2012::

Quote:
may i ask you to send me your complete adress and name details ?

We will ship you a replacement unit as the unit you have is not a LMT, it's a small mistake from Helidirect we think as we do not have any trouble in general with them, so we will simply exchange the unit for you.

You do not need to send us back your old unit, you can keep it to use the wires or whatever you need as a spare part on it,

Best regards,

Fabien
