I wouldn't worry about the bolts, they take far more load in flight than they ever would in a crash.
Your blade grips would have to bend for that bolt to be damaged, and that would usually involve landing on the head at speed.

Good idea with the blades, I rarely re-use blades after a ground strike. Only if they look perfect and even then I monitor them before each flight. But if your buying Turnigy cheapies at $10-$15 a pair it's almost not worth it to re-use crashed blades, even if they do look perfect.

My Align 3G 425s on the other hand will be re-used after their last minor ground strike. At $45 a pop I wanna get my monies worth.

These blades were $6 from Helidirect. I bought 2 pairs.
I think for $6 they work fine. I'm sure I'd probably notice the difference with more expensive blades but at this stage of the game I'm better off with cheap ones!

I guess I might as well get the Align finished. It just needs the gyro set up and the tx programmed. I'll just copy the HK's settings for it.

On the DX6i. On a DX7s (and I assume the DX8 etc). The numbers are -100% to 0% and %0 to +100%, so 0% is the neutral value.

My JR DSX 9 has 50% as neutral

for a sec I was thinking maybe all the JR made spektrum radios used the same, but as you said DX6i is the same as is not made by JR.

I only found out this week, when I started transferring my models from my DX6i to my DX7s. None of my helis would fly properly on my DX7s with the DX6i gyro settings..... Then I found out why!

Mind you, there are loads of differences in the settings; servo reverses, servo centres are different....its a completley different system....

nope...DX8 (and the new DX7) all have their values at ZERO for older systems normal 50% - so where on my old skool DX7 for example my rate mode was like +33% and my HH mode was +63% - on my DX8 rate is -20 and my HH is like +14...screwed me up too when I went from the old system to the new one...

I'm sure they work fine, but they're overpriced.

I think I just have a bad case of cerebral vapor lock.
I'll take a break from it and when I go back I'll find it was something simple.

well......i'm going to go into Phase 2 of my 500 life soon.....last year i went to a big Heli GTG and won some Castle Coupons at the end of the day raffle....and for the whole time from then till now Castle has been out of their Ice ESC's ...but went online last night and they finally had the one i wanted in stock! The 75 amp ESC that is perfect for a 500....so..i used my coupon and a new ESC is going to be on the way to me shortly...i already have a motor in hand thanks to my wife for the holiday's...and servo's given to me by my buddy that are stronger than the 930's on my HK500...so...i now have what i need to build the real Trex 500 i have sitting on my shelf!

My wife is going in for minor surgery at the end of March..so going to have some time at home with her and take care of her..and when she is recovering and sleeping i'm going to build this big boy and see how it compares to my HK build...so come the 1st week in April i'll have 2 500's setup to fly..2 450's ready to fly..and a spare 450 i may build as well...

the heli's will be all over in my house!

Dan

The helis have already taken over my living room....there's 2 500's in disarray on my little coffee table right now. Gotta get a couple shelves or find a way to hang them on the wall! I have 6 smaller heli's taking up space on my book shelves.

JMD, you must have a large room to yourself for all your rc stuff!

What kind of servos did you get from your friend? The Ice esc is a nice addition!

I don't have a large room..have my single car garage stacked to the gills with planes and helis..and my computer room/spare room/den tiny room that i try to have the space to work on stuff lol!

i forget the name of the servo's...had not heard of them till he gave them to me..they are a coreless ball bearing metal gear servo that are rated at like 8kg or so....and when i looked them up they had some good reviews...so gonna use them since they were free lol!

Nice!

Just ordered these for my Trex:
http://www.bigskyhobby.com/Radio-Sys...rum-p4335.html

http://helidirect.com/spartan-quark-...on-p-22960.hdx
The gyro was $100, not $174.
