Default DFC Question

All you need is a spindle and thrust bearings. Correct?

You can't reuse the spindle? Are the main shaft/spindle different on the dfc vs regular pro(FBL or FB?)

Pretty sure the spindle is the same, not the main shaft, as it's shorter than the standard head.

Will the DFC head actually improve the flying performance, or does it just look cool?

Bear in mind you need the shims between the thrust bearings and the radial bearings too, these don't come with the head either.

No the dampers are in the head already. The shims are I think something like 8x3x0.4 from memory. They butt between the radial bearings in the grips and the inner race of the thirst bearing.

They are in the original head so you could just swap them.

The thing I linked also has washers with it. Those are the correct washers that come with the dampers correct?

Those are the spacers between the blade grips and the head yes.....but you still need the shims in the blade grips between the thrust and radial bearings.

Here is the manual. It shows the washer between them is 5.5X 8X .04mm, correct? That is the size those dampers come with. Just want to make sure I have it all right.

http://rvmhc.com/manuals/450PRO.pdf

The washers between the head and grip are the thick ones that come with the feathering shaft.

Just opened a 450 head. You are talking about this brass washer right? It seems about .4mm thick, but I have no way of actually knowing.

It might work but its not like the one I used. Unfortunately I'm at work so can't illustrate for you. The shim I'm talking about is on the instructions that come with the DFC head and its shown as an optional part as is the spindle and thrust bearings which means its not in the upgrade pack.

Just found some out of a Tarot FBL head that I don't use any more. As for thrust bearings, luckily the Blade 450's are identical, so I picked those up from ExperienceRC who does have the DFC head in stock if anyone is looking for one.

The spacers close to the thrust bearings are very thin. MUCH thinner than the washers close to the dampners. They are NOT the same.

I said I took apart an old head and got the right ones. Right in the middle between the thrust and radial bearings. So I do have the right ones now, but are you saying the manual is wrong? The ones the manual shows says they are the same size as the ones that come with dampers. If the manual is in fact wrong, can you please link me to the right ones so I can buy extras in the future? Thanks.

I just got the dampers with the spacers I linked. The spacers are 100% identical to the ones I pulled out of my 450 Sport head between the radial and thrust bearings. The thicker ones between the dampers and blade grips come with the feathering shaft.
