Default Question for 4S stretch pilots

I have a stretch kit, MSH 4S motor and some Edge 353 FBL blades sitting on my shelf.

I am currently flying 3S governed at 3000 rpm and it is absolutely perfect, so nice in fact that I am reluctant to change it.

For you guys that have gone 4S stretch, is it worth it? Did you keep the 16T stock pinion?

I tried running stretch on 3S/15T with the stock motor. Then 4S/14T and 4S/15T on stock motor with governor turned way down. The ESC is able to handle it, but the whole system runs waaaay too hot for my tastes. I was landing with motor you could use to make coffee on.

After switch to 2010kV motor on 4S with 15T pinion, everything runs smooth, kinda warm when you throw it around, but nothing bad. The efficient power band of 4S setup is also much wider, you can tell from batteries lasting longer.

If you ask me if it's worth it, I'd say definitely yes. For an intermediate pilot, I'd say more worth than 6S too (less tail issues, more batteries available etc). Hope this helps

Thanks, you convinced me. I ordered a 15T pinion today and will start looking for batteries.

Very happy with my 4S setup running a 15T pinion and 3100 HS, much easier to find batteries than for 6S and it balances perfectly with 4S 2200MAH's (I am using Revo's Batteries).

I live in Singapore and the heat and humidity here are high, motor and ESC both come down well within acceptable temps even after a moderately hard 3D flight.

Couldn't be happier!

You can fly with a 16T - I did for a bit till I got a 15T. The YGE is a great ESC but I figure when there's a better gearing, I'd go for it.
