Very pleased with my newly acquired Mini Protos 6S stretch. Re-did the whole bird as from received. I think it includes now every MSH and Lynx upgrade offered except aftermarket canopy, colored sideframes and turnbuckles.

Maiden went well - and as Sade would sing, this is one "smooth operator". All up weight is 1.95 lbs with the 1300 6S and canopy! And a tote full of spare parts will assure many good seasons with my new bird.

Good work, but you're not really trying - what about the DFC head and Arms???

Ha! You caught me in a lie. The DFC does look cool! But at least I have the Lynx conventional grips upgrade. I have yet to figure out a way to get both upgrades on at the same time...lol

I like the port/starboard colors. It looks sort of nautical for that part.

Thanks that was kind of the plan. It was supposed to be reflective but at this scale it doesn't really seem to have much extra visibility. I'll tell ya, those yellow landing gear really help. Why the move to black only from the supplier I do not know.

Still thoroughly enjoying flying the MiniP. Such a smooth precise machine. I still get a lot of compliments on this old bird.

The lady caught the end of my flight here. Running 3200rpm governed on the YGE. 6S on Edge 353/62mm setup. Scorpion 2520, Mini Vbar, and MKS servos. Full metal Lynx DFC head and tail.

We are in the Warrenton, VA area about 5 miles south of exit 43 on 66.

You're not far. You could drop down 95 and take the 234 west or just jump on 66. Prob just under an hour drive for you.

Its a decent sized field. Pond nearby. We have a shed and a john.

Oh Ya these Mini P's fly great and nice and light weight too.

I take mine all over the central valley here in California, fly it anywhere I find an empty field.
Doing mostly big air flying with plenty of flips, rolls, loops, and elevator tic tocs. Starting to throw it around a bit more with collective vs flying level and then doing smooth maneuvers back to level.

Party on with the Protos, it rocks!!

LOL...the incorporation of 95 Ti fasteners (less grips, spindles, x-bolts) in the Mini as well as switching 20 washers to Al has amounted in...wait for it....absolutely NO weight loss on the Fed-Ex scale. Still at 1.95lbs AUW.

Oh well - still like all my metal Lynx and MSH goodies!

Lol, if you weighed all those parts it probably wouldn't register on a lb scale. You probably saved on the order of 5 grams bud.

The weight junkies are wasting time swapping out screws. There's no noticeable savings there

The extra weight of the aluminium tail bits probably balance the weight savings from Ti

LOL...the scale's lowest increment was 0.05# or 23g. So I did not even recoup that amount. But in all fairness, I only switched-out all the tiny M2s as I had already did the M2.5 and M3s with the prior weight-in. I had the metal tail also then. But hey, it looks nice.

Aluminum tail is a little heavy compared to stock (maybe 10 grams). The weight conscious would run the plastic tail except the Lynx pitch slider which provides actual functional benefit.

Lynx DFC head is lighter than the MSH setup if I recall correctly, but really not much, couple grams. The aluminum tail clamp is a touch heavier. I did a lot of comparisons when I had mine and tried to trim weight.

You could save significant weight by running Spektrum H3060 cyclic servos. They fly fine to me and will probably save you 25 grams. Plastic servo blocks another 10-15 grams. Hollow mainshaft is worth a good amount of weight if you aren't running it. I can't see what ESC you're running, but the Talon 35 is a featherweight (if you're on 6s) and will save nearly 20 grams over the YGE esc.

Should be able to hit 1.85 lb in that configuration.

With that said, I had all of those things done and I was at 900 grams, or right where you're at now weight wise. Maybe batteries are the difference.

Already got the hollow shaft. Like you said, if I wanted, could shave some weight by going with plastic boom ring, tail servo mounts, bearing blocks and tail case. I can save 4g by going back to OE pinion from solid. But considering this is a 6S bird swinging 350mm blades she still has a lot going for it when compared to the likes of the Goblin 380 or Protos 380 disc loading. If this was poker, I think I'm gonna 'hold' then.

I just picked up a nice used one here from a HF member. This is my 2nd miniP-1st I gave away to my son. Been missing it for a while, thus the acquisition of a 2nd.

It's all stock, still on 3S w/16T pinion. I actually prefer a 3S "450" to 6S ones; it's light, low cost, and batteries can be shared with some planes I also fly. Small enough to fly on a corner of my property that's probably 1/4 acre.Flies amazing! and quiet...

All-up weight is 1.95 lbs with a Pulse Ultra 2250/45C. Or 1.535 lb w/o battery. miniV Bar, KST DS-215MGs on swash, Savox SH-1257 on tail. Stock canopy, plastic tail blades, KBDD 325mm mains.

Just finished the re-build after the crash from the pinion failure. Some minor changes included a relo of the FBL unit for better access, and the return to the OEM side frames (1.2mm vs 1.5mm Fusuno a ~10g savings).

Even with the full Lynx/MSH metal upgrades, have been able to get this 6S-350mm bird to:

1.49lbs w/o lipo
1.92lbs AUW

In spite of a new motor and new pinion the one-way locked-up after its first flight. Not a fatal issue, but makes it pointless to have the over-running clutch - even with high pressure thrust grease used. There must be some type of counterweight to the locking pawls that become counterproductive when spun-up to these speeds.

BTW, have a few Scorpion/MSH motors to compare and the axial play and shaft locations vary greatly among them. One new in the wrapper did not even have the setscrew properly resting on the shaft flat. Some can take two wavy washers, some only one. Looks like Scorp switched to Stainless for these washers too from steel perhaps to avoid getting them stuck on magnets. And if I didn't know any better, I would think the dimensions between stator bearings isn't overly controlled.
