Default DSM2/DMSX with the DC/DS 16

Has anybody tried one of these or is thinking about it?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...utm_source=EDM

I like the idea since I have a bunch of BNF stuff but I don't like the idea of having anything sticking out or hanging off the transmitter....Mallen

I'm not sure what the lag time would be but that is interesting.

All you would need is a 2S battery, and a small receiver like a R4L to pass the signal through.

Pretty ironic now that I'm phasing out my 130X and expect to be DSMX free from now on.

I just got a 130x a while ago and love flying that thing!

I do still have a JR 12x for all my DMS2/DMSX stuff but now having the DS-16, I think it's going to be hard to go back to using a different transmitter.

I also have a few FBL choppers that are using the AR7200BX (Spektrum receiver with the built in BeastX system) so now I will have to replace those with separate receivers and BeastX units if I want to use the DS-16.....ahhh the trouble this DS-16 is causing me....lol....Mallen

I was fortunate that I only needed to switch out DSMX satellites from 3 helis to Jeti receivers, and a receiver for the simstick.

My 130X was doing well for a little while, but the tail maintenance is getting really annoying. Every <10 flights my C or D gear strips out from the center and the heli starts to spin wildly. I finally got fed up with it.

The maintenance was reasonable until I started to fly more aggressively with it.

I just built up a (250mm) 300X from scratch without a kit. All alloy parts, SK-540, Scorpion, Koby, MKS and Hitec servos. LynX helical main gear and pinion, frame stiffener. From what I can tell they can take a beating and fly MUCH more like a larger heli. This will be my new back yard heli to replace my 130X.

I think this will be a lot more reliable for me. ( Fingers crossed)

I also have a Trex 250 which I like to fly but 130x seems like more of a beater to me....But I don't have that much time on my 130x yet so I haven't experienced the problem that you've had with the tail. Mine did come with a metal tail gear which I guess was a option but now they include it.

I just got a FBL system for my 250 and I ordered a few Jeti R6L receivers for it and my 450.

But here is one I can't figure out....the R6L is the same price as the R6i....they are the same size with the "i" being the park flyer and the "l" being full range.....so why would anybody want to use the "I" (limited range)?????

I just got my R4L going. It's $49 and a perfect size for a 250.

It's full range and still passes 8 channels of PPM to the FBL controller.

The R4L has a great sized antenna if you are just going to run them out and don't need to route the antenna anywhere.

I think the only reason to get an R6L is for the EXT port for telemetry data.

Currently My E5 and TDR are JLog2 equiped and use the ext port for that.

My Protos has a much larger reciever on it than it needs. I think I could have gone with an R4L for it as well.

Maybe I should sell off a couple of my R7/R9 receivers to someone who needs the ports for something.

How are you able to use the 4L....???? I'm using 3 ch. for the cyclic, 1 for the throttle and 1 for the gyro sen.
for a total of 5 channels.

And if you are interested in selling any of your 7 or 9 channels let me know....I need more!

I am just using Channel 4 as the PPM channel for a serial communication.

Since it is just a digital serial stream it isn't limited by the physical ports on the receiver.

This is assuming that you are using a FBL controller that accepts PPM which is most of them including BeastX.

Okay....I didn't know you could do that. The FBL controller I have for the 250 is Align's and I haven't had it out of the box yet....I'm still flying it with the flybar.

As for my other two FBL machines (an outrage 50 N2 and a Hirobo Vertol twin rotor) are both using Spektrum AR7200Bx's. So this whole "PPM Channel" deal is all new to me.......

You need an actual BeastX controller to use the PPM connection. The AR7200BX doesn't support it.

I'm using Skookum FBL controllers, but V-Bar, Helicommand, Brain/Ikon, and others support it.

Don't know if already posted elsewhere, from jetiforum.de:
- Orange DSM2 TX module either JR/Futaba/DYI
- a Jeti satelitte RSAT2 with PPM output either positive (JR)
or negative (futaba)
To fly BNF helis (nano, mcpx, ...)
with DC/DS16 without changing anything in the TX.

That's flipping brilliant... A radio bridge to Spektrum. And now I know I can sell my DX8 here in a few weeks when I get my DS-16. Awesome!

Is there a schematic? Or is it just plug n play as long as you don't add a power on/off switch?

Schematic is linked above, here: https://www.helifreak.com/attachment...5&d=1381176383

On the surface, it looks plug and play to me. PPM out from the RSAT to the PPM in on the transmitter, and common power to both. Boom!
