Had to try one of these things.
Ok, well thanks to a fellow HF member here. I have one of these SR's. At our field we train new pilots to fly, maintain, build or anything they need. The SR seemed like it might be a cool bird to use to train people to fly on. So, I've just got done doing my first flights on it both with the stock TX and then bound to my DX7 for a more detailed setup as well as being in total control of what settings are where.
I have to say, it's a pretty great little bird right out of the box. I tried it in several modes and after setting up the tail to main motor by adjusting the pot on the ESC I was able to get near all the tail wobble out of it. Also, plugged in the yellow gain wire in. I'm flying it with 0 mid, and + and - 11 deg pitch. After binding it to my DX7 I was able to do even better settings and am now able to get the tail to hold even better so now I only hear some tail blade rpm changes, but no wobble. It does great flips, rolls, loops and inverted flight. I'm surprised to say the least. But thus far it checks out pretty good! My idle up settings to normal throttle curve gives it a smooth transition so that there is no rpm change when going into idle up so in normal mode it's more stable with the higher head speed than the stock TX can provide with the pre programed HS in normal mode. Granted, I'm a bit paranoid to do a piroflip with it, but I'm starting to think she will do it. Anyway, the plan here is that now it's bound to my DX7 and set up right, I'll use the stock TX for buddy boxing new pilots. the only change I might make is to move out the 2nd set of weights for a new pilot and tame down the swash mix a bit. So, as many of you already know, this little bird is pretty good stock, and even better when set up on a DX7. Another note here, I checked for swash CCPM interaction on it and it only needed a slight adjustment on the ELEV channel. That was it. Blade tracking was right on when set up with a pitch gauge. End note on day one of flight testing,,,all and all I'm pretty impressed. I think this bird is everything they said it is. Next test is to install a better gyro and see what happens then.....Thinking of putting on a GP750 or a Futaba 401. I've even got a Gy240 laying around here that might work. Hmmmmm.. I just wanted to post a note here to share my feelings and experiances with some that might be thinking of picking one up. And I'd be willing to share all of my settings if someone needs em. Dana

I put a gy401 on mine and the difference is pretty big. Would you mind posting your DX7 settings? I would like to compare them to mine if you don't mind. Thanks!

My DX7 Settings
No problem at all. Do keep in mind, that my SR is totally bone stock no upgrades at all. As it sits, there is one flybar weight still out by the paddles, Stock blades, everything.
For pitch I'm running -10 0 +10 deg pitch Swash mix +80 +80 +30 Throttle curve norm... Lin Idle up 1 Flat line 87% Idle up 1 Flat line 100% Pitch curves Norm 40 /45/50/75/100 St 1 Lin St 2 Lin Hold "Same as Normal pitch curve 40/45/50/75/100" No Revo Mix Gyro Sens on Auto Both positions 0 and 1 set at 98. This was done after setting the ESC prop pot with gain set at 47% first for somewhat of a rate mode setup. No Program mixing Timer set at 6:00 count down EXPO for Aile and Elev are Lin EXPO for Rudder is set at -10 As I noted, I did adjust for some CCPM interaction, but each heli I'm sure will be diffrent in those amounts so my numbers on that would do you no good. But do keep in mind, that mine were very minor and if your doing 3D with this bird, I'd guess you already know how to do that and how to spot the problem should you have one. I found it most easy to notice CCPM interaction problems when either doing forward flight front or back flips, or an inverted push. Seems those moves really balance the heli and show you if your having any issues that need to be corrected. More so the inverted push as the sweep on the collective is very smooth and the flight path is what your watching. Much like sighting a rifle. If I've failed to answer any questions please feel free to ask!
