Cool T-Rex 450

Hi guy's
New to the forum but not a stranger. Been a long time since I have been messing with Heli's and recently bought a T-Rex 450 used. Put all new Hi-Tech servos in except for the tail rotor and gyro which came with the bird. My thing is I dont really care to fly 3d. I was brought up using the throttle at bottom postion and to top for full cyclic. Now everything seems to be mid-stick 0 to -10 and 0 to +10 and ccpm. So stupid has fallen upon me for this set-up. I am using a JR-10x heli radio. Cant seem to find anybody locally to help me with this. I have actually considered selling it and a clone that I have which came with a set of carbon fiber side frames already build up with bearing blocks and spacers. If anyone knows of a good video or manual please let me know. Thanks

Did you try looking at Finless Bob's tech room? There is all kinds of videos and how to's there. It's at the beginning of the forum.

If I understand you correctly, you are wating to fly with no or little negitive pitch. You will need to setup your transmitter pitch curve and throttle curve. Look for Finless videos on transmitter setup.

Having 1* or 2* negative pitch is not a bad thing as it can help get the heli down if it gets up high and gets caught in the wind. Some scale guys use that kind of set-up. But if you want full servo travel with pos pitch only, you need to redo the set-up on the heli. You can cheat by lowering the stick all the way down while using a 0-100 PC. Then remove the servo arms and reset to achieve 0* while at low stick. Fine tune the servo arms with subtrim. And don't forget to lower the pitch value in the swash menu. Do this before you try to go full stick or you could bind the servos at full stick and burn them up.

From what your saying, you would probably need to lower the pitch value to about half of what it is now.swash menu.

Or just change your pitch curve to something like 40-45-50-75-100.

That's the way CP helicopters are supposed to have the sticks setup I believe, perhaps the ones you flew years ago were all Fixed-Pitch ?

You have two choices: learn the new stick setup (shouldn't be too hard if you already know how to fly helis), or totally re-setup the heli and transmitter to mimic the old fixed-pitch style
