Will do. My goal (now) is to wind a spare. Scorpion 4020-910kv motor. I need to buy the correct wire for this one and I can get started.

I like the KV formula based off known or stock KV mentioned earlier.
I was just tinkering around a bit with it and came up with a few examples

Stock KV x stock Turns / new KV = turns needed for new KV.

For instance my Scorpion 4020-1350 kv motor has 2.5 turns.
If I wanted 1100KV I'd calculate as follows:

Stock 1350KV x 2.5Turns / new 1100KV = 3.06 Turns.
3 turns is exactly what the Scorpion HK 111 4020 -1100 KV has under the hood. Awesome!

2.5 turns per tooth is actually 5 turns per phase and 3 turns per tooth is actually 6 turns per phase. And it still comes out the same if I use 5 and 6 turns in the calculation instead of 2.5 or 3 per tooth.

Also according to the Calculator over at RCgroups which is also based off known KV.
If you want to figure how much lower the KV would be by Terminating Wye instead of current Delta. .577 seems to be their magic number.

1350 KV Delta x .577 = 778 KV in wye termination.
To go from Wye to Delta just reverse it 788 KV / .577 = 13500KV

I'm wanting the same KV out of my 4020-1350 rewind so none of it matters this time around but I did rewind my blown Emax 2215-3800 for lower KV to have a back up 4S motor for my 450 and hope to never need it. I love the Scorpion 2221-10 on 4S.

3800 KV x 5 stock Turns / 3000 new KV = 6.3 turns. I put 6 turns of 22 Aug wire on it but have not tested it yet. Winding is fun but taking a chance on blowing an ESC is another story.

It would be nice if you could run some fuses or something on each phase to protect the ESC during testing.

Question: is this calc from Bavaria Direct? if so - how did you get it to both show you YY + the termination?

If i change to advanced it doesn't show me the termination anymore. just asking because i tried to play with it a little to learn how terminations vary with my changes - but cant get it to show them...

Also from my understanding - shouldn't it be AabBCc/AabBCc?

EDIT - Thought about my the last question and i now understand why Ralph's termination was strange to me until now: Ralph is doing AaBbCc, but then he connects start "A" for phase 1 and end "b" for phase 2 etc. by that reversing the polarity of each pair, so it is actually AabBCc...
Therefore AabBCc/aABbcC is correct for traditional termination. (hope it was clear...)

I just noticed that his calculator has a Y/D option in 'advanced mode'. Curious. Looks like a slightly newer version.

Interesting! when i do it in the order you wrote (calculate only at the end) i do get the Y and the termination! very refreshing.

For your last answer - look at my edit to post #66. your first scheme (a) is good. the second is not (b option), unless maybe if you reverse the star wires and the phases on the second motor? but i'm no expert to tell that.

Yep! remember testing the 2 separate motors first for Kv before you connect the parallel phases.

Freeze it over night and try to press it out while it is still cold. Then, put it back int he freezer and keep trying while it is cold.

Some of them can be a pain in the butt! Freezing works much better than heating for removing the stator. Just keep at it!

Freezer temps can vary quite a lot. Some people can't wait for their ice cream to thaw
Suggest checking temp and maybe lowering.

Maybe you need one of those Japanese fridges with the flash freeze feature! I have no experience in this but perhaps you need to give it the desert treatment, 12 hours frying, 12 hours freezing. Nothing survives the desert.
